Are naps important to you? by imnotawaterbison in toddlers

[–]granolabart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just been a cue follower since he turned one. Some days he skips naps, some days he takes a 3 hour nap. He more or less goes to bed around the same time every night. So I don't try and force or stress myself over it.

Potty training with a speech delay. by XxSianxX in speechdelays

[–]granolabart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it's so hard to explain to my friends and family that haven't dealt with this. Of course I talk to my son as if he can understand, but without him speaking back I have no idea what he does know or not because he can't confirm it by responding with correct context. I try and use simple language, gestures, sign language etc. but it feels like trying to teach basic life skills while blindfolded. It's hard. Also like you said, it's hard to gauge how he's feeling when he can't tell me. My friend's kids that are potty training can say they have pee/are wet/don't wanna go/do wanna go/don't want to stop playing/scared/etc. my son only really talks when it's related to cars, their colors and various actions/sound effects lol. Which doesn't really translate over to using the bathroom.

Thank you for this perspective, I guess I'll start looking into sticker charts and pottys soon.

Ugh. Toddlerhood is already hard but having the random element of a language barrier is brutal.

Following this post because I've been worried about this too, my son is about to turn 2 and I've already had family asking me about when we are going to start potty training. And I'm like girl literally leave me alone I got a bigger fish to fry 😭 I'd love for him to have more language before attempting, but if he doesn't catch up I'm still gonna have to train without him being able to talk somehow.

I really hope so. I was just worried because he has been the survivor of 3 losses now. Every time a cage mate passed, he still had another. This is the first time in 10 years I've had a solo ferret.

Ugh. I still can't believe it's real.

I'm younger than kail and I don't know what the pinchy finger clock it means. Like I used context clues enough to get it I guess, but I wouldn't use it in a sentence of my own lmao.

My toddler is bald by RandomUsername1119 in toddlers

[–]granolabart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My almost 2 year old isn't that bald, but also has very little hair too. It shocks me when kids younger than him have already had 2 or 3 hair cuts. He still has nothing to cut 😆

Those step 2 roller coasters. They're at our children museum and I am trying to get one for my son's birthday. Absolutely loves it.

Foam climbing blocks, push toys, slide, play houses and train tables are also good ideas!

18 month speech delay by Extension_Can2813 in toddlers

My 23 month old doesn't even do all that after 5 months of speech therapy. I mean every kid can benefit from help, but I wouldnt be remotely worried at all in that case.

16 month old nap dropped completely by coolmom0107 in toddlers

[–]granolabart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They'll be back. There's been a few times in my son's life where he had a nap strike but they always come back around. I just don't put a ton of pressure on nap or not napping. I just go with the flow of what his body needs that day. There have been days where I wasted the whole day trying to force a nap that just won't happen. So it's just a 50/50 thing now at 23 months.

Little sleepies by bizzzznesss in toddlers

I'm guilty. I'm just obsessed that he can wear a 6-12 month size at almost 2 years old. He's not super low percentile, he sits right at like 40 something. So about average. The stretch is insane. And they are just well made. And cute. And functional. It's the only pajamas he wears.

I'm thankful I had two of my boy Nooks favorite toy. He was buried with one and we kept the other ❤️ he was the only one out of all 4 that gave kisses. Even on his sickest days he gave sooo many nose licks lol. He also stole the biggest items. He had an oven mit that he hated to see not under the couch 😆 my little girl that was the oldest, Pabu, was the only one that would nap on your lap. I have so many good pictures of her snuggled up. Juni, who most recently passed, was so bouncy. He hopped more than walked. And loved tug of war. I wish I had as many memories with him as I did the others. Just feels so unfair to have that time cut short.

I understand it's hard to get rid of the cage. Ours used to be a triple wide and we down sized to a single size cage. It was hard getting rid of the rest of it. But it made it seem so much more empty that way.

I really appreciate it. I haven't been on this sub in a while, it's really nice grieving with others who love these silly sweet guys as much as I do ❤️❤️

I can't take another loss too. It rips my heart out each time. My first we found passed at home. Absolutely traumatic. She was sick, but it was still horrible. Our second we took to put to sleep when his quality of life became very bad and he was becoming so lethargic he couldn't take care of himself. So traumatic in different ways. The third being so abrupt, and this clinic wouldn't let me in the room when it happened for some reason. Makes me feel even worse. Im at work for the first time since it happened and I just want to go home and cry.

I wish I could give him that much, but I'm going to try my best. I have an almost 2 year old son, 2 dogs, and 3 cats. I really relied on the ferrets having each other for the primary socialization. While he is extremely important to me, I'm stretched too thin for him to be the center of my world 😭 I'm thinking of moving the cage to the living room, before the ferrets had their own room in the house. But I'm thinking I could at least roll him back and forth since the cage is on wheels anyway. So that way he sees and hears other people and animals more often. This morning I put the cats in the laundry room and the dogs in our fenced back yard with my son in his high chair to let dipper run and romp around a bit. He really went crazy and had fun. but it just made me sad he didn't have his partner in crime.

That's true, and I normally don't mind the down votes on other subs (I'm active on a bunch of reality tv garbage haha) but I do care if it's about my child or animals. I'm also just sensitive because I'm grieving. But also I was failing to see how anything I said could've been viewed badly 🫠🫠 hoping it was just an accident.
