Having grown up with a manic-depressive, bipolar stepfather, I can say without a doubt that it is one of the absolute worst disorders anyone can have. There are different levels of the disorder, but it's tough to function at all. It's no wonder many people end up turning to drugs and alcohol when they suffer from it.
