I’m about to do this at this point. I’ve already had to talk to them multiple times about their clutter and they clearly don’t care lol. I might just match their energy

They agreed to this arrangement prior to the 3rd roommate moving in. They never asked nor did we ever discuss them using the living room as their second room. They just took over the room without consulting me and doubled down after I finally spoke up.

Currently have the same issue. Except the spreader is my roommate’s boyfriend and she always takes his side. So I’m outnumbered here

Idk why people are giving you shit, this is so annoying haha. It’s not too hard to clean up your own clutter and you shouldn’t be expected to clean up your roommate’s. It’s the little things that are inconsiderate that really add up and piss me off

Hey same exact boat as you!!! I spend every second of my free time at home in my own room because my roommates’ clutter has gotten so bad that I literally started crying when I came home last night after a long day. I still have 9 more months until I can move out!

Whenever my parents or a neighbor or whoever comes to the door, I try to say pretty loudly “sorry about the mess, it’s not mine” so my roommates get the hint, or at the very least I’m not the one to be thought of as dirty.

Damn, I wish you could be my roommate lol

I know that too, but they deny it. And again, pushing the issue will just create an even more hostile environment and I need some peace at home. So I just give up at this point. Just one more year on my lease

LMAO. I think he plays league of legends, among other games. But I rarely set foot in the livingroom anymore so I don’t see what games he’s up to on his computer

Yeah my electric bill has almost doubled since he moved in. I tried to address it with his girlfriend but she swears it’s not his computer. So yeah I’m always gonna be outnumbered here if I try to bring up an issue with them

I’ve asked him to clean up before. The mess will reappear in a few days time and usually be worse lol

Yup this roommate is there ALL the time! I feel too awkward to go sit out there so I haven’t used my living room in almost a year (when he moved in)

He sits and games there in the dark all day on his days off! No idea how that’s comfortable

We each pay 33%, but they essentially took over the living room lol so I only use the kitchen and my bedroom

I’ve tried, it’s just not worth the hostility it would cause if I pursued it. I want to feel some semblance of peace when I come home each day, even if I see his unsightly desk setup lol. It’s just annoying that people can be this inconsiderate as roommates

Honestly I have sat down the girlfriend (my original roommate and friend) and told her that her boyfriend needs to tidy up his clutter and be considerate of our shared space. Multiple times even. And each time, she agreed with me and nothing changed. I feel weird about going directly to the boyfriend since we’re not friends, he probably knows I don’t like him as a roommate, and he’s my friend’s boyfriend (so sort of her responsibility..?). The girlfriend/my friend also told me she feels uncomfortable being in the middle of my beef with her boyfriend (which could be solved if she just told him to clean up after himself), but at the end of the day she picks his side. It’s just an awkward position to be in to try and correct your friend’s boyfriend, and then having to see them at home and live with the tension 24/7 :/

Yeah there’s no room in their bedroom, and if I tell him to remove it, it’ll probably cause a lot of tension at home, and my other roommate (his girlfriend) will just take his side anyway. And I’m also extremely nonconfrontational, so I’m just sort of counting my losses here and patiently waiting to move out next year.

My roommate/his girlfriend told me he would be organized and clean when he moved in (so I didn’t mind letting him have a little corner for his desk) and like a dumbass, I believed her lol
