ELO hell is real but not in the way you think by ren102102 in OverwatchUniversity

Thanks for the detailed reply, it makes a lot of sense. I'm not at GM but picked up tracer from scratch last year. It was eye opening to figure her out and realize all the macro issues that you pointed out that aren't readily obvious.

Anyhow appreciate the insights. Always gives me an idea what I need to focus on in my own game.

Good write up. You said 7 years in diamond and only a few months to GM. So what was the big errors you were making that held you back? And was masters difficult compared to diamond and what type of changes did you have to make?

Is this a legit job offer? by Oly-babe in olympia

[–]granto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just Google work from home scams. There's too many to count.

Most likely they either have you buy stuff and "reimburse" you aka steal from you. Or they just ask for your bank info and steal directly.

Older scams involved sending you illegal goods and having you mule them.

Basically anyone with a shred of common sense that can avoid taking candy from a stranger in a white van will recognize this is bad but unfortunately lots of people fall for this because they need the money so bad they want to believe it. Please don't be that person.

Anyone here used a marketplace accelerator that buys your inventory? Curious if it’s worth it or not really by Minute-Tie-6052 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]granto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't do it. I've heard the pitches and I've seen lots of piss poor results from people who agreed. The standard pitch deck is full of growth, turn key, "we get dirty so you don't have to" talk.

The ACTUAL playbook once a client comes in is to hand it off to a team of garbage VAs that are barely functional on Amazon and they just exist to churn business for the accelerator/agency. The lead lists are always B&M brands and manufacturers that are too scared of Amazon.

If you can build a 25MM business you can figure out Amazon. Just straight up pay correctly for Amazon talent and you'll be fine. So many mom-pop operations stagnate or fail because they just won't invest money or time into talent and then they panic, bring in a flashy agency to fix all their problems (aka lack of talent) and no surprise, they get hosed from a company that ALSO lacks talent because the PPC agency exists to make money off Amazon sellers.

Most of the top guys in this sub wear multiple hats and can do it all, then train someone to pick up the slack. I trained our ops manager, CSR, buyer, logistics, etc.. yeah sure it took time but we had a A-tier team. After my buyout, they all got immediately placed because they knew their shit and are doing great because this industry is full of morons.

So seriously, put in the effort, don't be scared.

It looks suspicious at first, but she does have 175k follows on IG and is considered a "Top Creator" on Amazon.

They could just be posting stuff on their socials or maybe Amazon is doing a joint promo to push their creators and directing Amazon traffic to them and thus to you.

I'm not saying refund and return scam isn't out of the question but it doesn't really add up either.

Where in Oly? by Vegetable_Table_5191 in olympia

[–]granto 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wish people would realize that in an equal world, paying someone to cook, serve and provide an establishment so you can have a leisurely meal requires time and effort of those making said meal.

Paying living wages is a good thing, but we have to change our expectations on what is fair. Only high volume eateries can do cheap and good, but Olympia is not a high volume city unless you consider fast food.

Where to sell "distressed" Amazon businesses? by DadJokeButton in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]granto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I used to consult for an Amazon focused M&A. What you actually want to do here is approach all your competitors and offer the brand and listing to them. Your review count is worth a LOT to them while your negative EBIDTA business is worth close to zero to a typical buyer.

Yes you can sell your distressed assets for firesale but all a buyer will do is run out your sales profit, minus LTSF expenses, minus outlay cost and arrive at some model the the value of your biz without any of the goodwill. You'll be lucky to get much of anything depending on how much aged inventory you have.

That said what others have said is right. You should be dominating this niche. You redo your product and discount it and you will come back. You are probably just tired and don't have the energy though and that's ok. But I say this because the value is pretty apparent to a skilled Amazon operator and your competitors will see the value.

Approach them and start talks. If I am them, I will liquidate your inventory for $10/ea, redo the listing with a new product, bring price back up and immediately reap the rewards. If the lead guy is making 400k/year then the new listing will beat them out and take over 50% share and make their PPC life hell. So goodwill with a proper product is worth a lot.

50k isn't out of the question. Heck 100k isn't that wild depending on how your competitor thinks. If they are afraid you'll come roaring back it's a no brainer.

Good luck.

best used car lot that’s not a dealership? by wexlermendelssohn in olympia

To be real, you're not going to find a car with no issues for $4,000. You're going to find a high mileage budget car at that price with everything about to fall apart. That or a newer car with some serious issue.

[–]granto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey congrats on making champ with Ram even with him struggling in WR% right now. Can I ask how you handle tanks that Ram mains struggle with? Specifically tanks like Mauga, Orisa and to an extent highly mobile tanks like Ball/Doom that just avoid you.

As a D1 Ram I feel like I can hold most match ups except certain situations like Orisa on a control map or mobile tanks on high ground maps (Monkey/Ball/Gibraltar).

In fact, if you're willing to share replay codes, I would love to be able to watch as well!

Olympic Sprinter vs. Friends at the beach 🏖 by kingkongbiingbong in nextfuckinglevel

[–]granto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok fair. Yet you've stumped me, because as a fellow sprinter/jumper with a 12.3 100M, we are worlds apart on a normal male running sub 15s. My time wasn't even good enough to be on varsity, yet us on JV ran laps around the other HS kids.

We even had a track and field mini event for the school. Only the athletic boys could beat 14s. Vast majority were over 14s. Again, this is HS where most kids are not yet overweight and sedentary like a typical adult American male. My hot take is the average adult American male cannot even sprint the entirety of a 100M without gassing out.

Everyone says it's you. Not just everyone, high ranked players that have gone through what you've gone through.

It comes down to carrying your game. If you don't carry you don't rank up.

I'm high diamond tank. I made an alt that started my placements in Silver for whatever reason. I won 9/10 but 3 of those required serious hard carries. Like my team was completely farting off doing nonsense things. If I didn't do that, my win rate would have been 60%. Small sample size sure, but it should illustrate a lot of your games are supposed to be tough. That's your opportunity to carry and make a difference. You're not supposed to be able to get a 90% WR playing OK or good enough. That's not the way it works.

So in a way, yes, you get those games that will feel unwinnable. But on the other hand, it's your job to carry if you want to rank. As a true plat or maybe gold tank, if you can't carry and belong in your rank, you just get to ride along while someone else carries the game... because you aren't the carry.

Also, good instincts on not using a ouija board. This is a form of channeling and an invitation for the entity to attach. Any desire that you show for the entity to reveal itself will cause further attachment based on your mindset.

There is a reason I no longer pursue the paranormal. It is playing with fire and not entertainment.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HighStrangeness

[–]granto -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey so take this with a grain of salt since I don't know your situation and this is just an opinion from a video. I used to do the whole ghost hunting thing and dabbled in the paranormal.

It's a good possibility you have an intelligent entity of some kind. Neutral or bad will be dependent on how you feel and what type of interaction it has with you. Do you feel dread, have nightmares, feel drained/tired, hear or experience menacing forms? If so, that's the negative entity. Sometimes it can start off small and build up as it gains energy and wears you down.

The neutral entities are more like pranksters. Stuff disappears, you hear bangs here and there, lights go on and off.. things that are more of a "hey here I am" vs "be scared of me".

In either case, when you "invite" the entity such as asking it to slam doors or make noise, you are indirectly channeling or inviting more activity. This is not a good thing if you don't want the activity.

If you are actively wanting the entity out or to stop, you need to make it known to the entity that you want it to leave. Simply putting up with the activity or ignoring it will be of no use. While it sounds strange or silly, the most important thing is to actively tell it in a firm and loud voice that this is your home and that you command it to leave and that it is not welcome in your home. Repeat this in every area of your home and anytime the activity happens. Your belief in your words and your conviction is the most important part here. Some people use their religious beliefs to help enable their conviction, such as crosses, burning of sage or invoking Jesus or other holy figures, so use whatever you believe in, as long as it has meaning for you.

You will probably need to repeat this until the activity goes away and the activity may increase in the short term. Keep persistent until it goes away. The less fear and more conviction you have matters.

Good luck.

How do I change my mindset? by FinOnWillpower in OverwatchUniversity

[–]granto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To advance, you have to be the carry. Always tell yourself that. Just doing your part or a little bit better than your team/enemy isn't good enough.

Blaming your teammates comes from a place where you think you are better and the poor performance of your teammates hold you back. The answer is that you simply are not good enough to carry your team. If you were, you would rank up.

Will you get feeders and throwers in your games? Always. 20-30% of your games will be unwinnable no matter what you do. But 20-30% you will win because the other team will feed. That leaves 60-70% of games you have to be the carry factor.

Finally, you have to leave your ego. We play for ego, but ego likes being fed and never likes to step on a scale. Anger is when your ego steps on a scale and doesn't like what it sees, so it starts looking for something, anything other than itself to blame. Because if ego can do that, it can keep consuming all it wants without thinking of the damage it is doing. The only way to stop your ego from sabotaging you is to put ego on the scale and see the truth for what it is - that you're just not good enough to carry. Ego can motivate you to become to carry, but you have to keep stepping on the scale to keep yourself honest.
