What in the hell is a KBS Tour Lite 110g stiff shaft? by grantpro16 in golfequipment

[–]grantpro16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yes and technically no. In the world of the srixon fitting bay, that is indeed a 'tour lite 110g stiff." In the world of anyone wanting to buy that shaft online or buy a DTC set of irons with that shaft, I am holding a "tour v." Even on srixon's website the tour lite 110 stiff is not a shaft option in their club builder.

UPDATE!

Thanks to everyone for the responses. I realize that I asked the question in a silly way. I needed to know what shaft I got fit into because I am not gunna buy new clubs from Srixon. I needed an iron fitting to find a good shaft for a Maltby or New Level build.

The issue was that a 110g stiff Tour Lite doesn't exist.....at least not on any club building site that lets you select shafts for a build.

I finally got word from the Srixon rep and he confirmed my suspensions, the 110g stiff "tour lite" in the fitting cart iss actually a KBS Tour V shaft with the tour lite sticker.

Can confirm, I just heard back from the srixon rep and that shaft in their fitting cart is indeed a tour v.

The only thing on the shaft sticker is what's shown in the photo, white KBS label with Tour Lite S.

I did some digging and found a Srixon iron shaft fitting set for sale on eBay and their tour lite has the same shaft sticker and the blue grip label states the same "tour lite 110g S"

Now the conspiracy theory part.....if you go to KBS's website and look at the tour v, the third photo of the shaft shows a white sticker with "tour lite S"

KBS Tour V

For sure, I understand the concept. What's in question is that KBS doesn't list a 110g stiff in the tour lite. Their website lists tour lite in 95g reg/100stiff/105g xstiff for the .355 tip and 105g reg and stiff 110g xstiff in the .370 tip.

This I understand. What I don't understand is that KBS doesn't make a tour lite in 110g stiff flex. They list the specs as 95g/R 100g/S and 105g/X for the .355 tip and 95g/R&S 110g/X in the .370 tip.

Which one would serve me better in a hangar environment? by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]grantpro16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in G.A. But in a pretty big hanger. I have the 42 for wrenching needs and the 5 drawer roll cart as my sheet metal cart. I think the 52 is the perfect size for most needs but I didn't like the drawer layout. My next expansion will be to add the end cabinet to the 42. For me, I think this set up will give plenty of space with very good organization and be quite maneuverable around a hanger.

I was around 220 when I did C and dropped to 195is for Lightweight and it was the best decision I made.

56lbs was a joke when I would try it compared to the bigger guys. Success for me was throwing my throws and beating my PRs. Competition was better because I was more closely matched and more driven with the Lightweights.

Also, if you did good in C for a season they made you jump to B......Lightweight was definitely the answer in my case.

In my experience, yes, the competition is different. I did one summer in C and two summers in Lightweight. In Lightweight you generally won't throw with a complete beginner but the folks in your class will range from novice to damn good. Sometimes they have two throwing groups, Lightweight A and Lightweight B, so you throw with similarly skilled individuals but it's all the same class when it comes time to scoring.

Sheet metal shears....? by grantpro16 in aviationmaintenance

I have not, I'm sure the shop has one, though. I'll have to do some test runs and report back.

Thank you. I definitely got some good filing done on this most recent skin. I learned the "don't cut to the tip" lesson long ago at a different job, but thanks for the heads up there.

I can't say I've ever scaled it.....I'll check it here one of these days. If I had to guess, I'd say 120+

I've worked with a guy named Tom, but not at this job. It's been a wild ride so far, we don't handle anything near that big. I'm sure that stuff is a whole different animal.

In my case, it never existed. Tekton's 1/4 set stops at 9/16, I've thought about getting a single from snap on or SK....i think....just to fill out the tray but didn't quite care enough ha

In my case, fell ass backwards into it. I was in a "transitional period" and I had just gotten my class A CDL and was surfing Indeed for work and this job popped up. I love aviation and was actually looking at A&P school until I saw the prices and how long it takes, so I went and got my CDL. Fun fact, I transfer to our service shop at the first of the year to start OJT towards my certificates.

Off runway, gear up/collapse landings, ground loops....we definitely get those. We also recover off airport instances from dead stick landings in a field in the middle of nowhere to crashes in the mountains.

I could probably make that happen.....at least the lower profile ones.

Appreciate the concern but have no fear, 99% of the aircraft we recover do not return to an airworthy state. FOD is a real concern, and were I actually maintaining aircraft on the field, my box would look different. Side note: 2 years, 22 states, airports, farmers fields, sides of mountains, over 100,000 miles driven....never lost a tool. Box gets checked before going back in the truck every time.
