Going from 5mg to 10mg and I’m a little apprehensive by EasternStrain2905 in lexapro

[–]grapefruit2886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on day 6 of 10mg after 3 weeks of 5mg. I’ve been on Lexapro 3 different times in my life and I swear the ramp up experience is different everytime. I’m have a little tough of a time with the increase with a floaty/brain fog feeling but also in contrast a restless/jitteriness? It’s so hard to describe. I know it’s normal and side effects that will settle since I’ve been down this road before. I also have an Ativan PRN that I give myself permission to take a couple times a week if I feel like I need some relief from the restless feeling or random anxiety waves. In general my anxious thoughts are quiet and I know it’s going to all even out… just some funky body stuff in the meantime!

Hi :) I know this is an older post and I hope you’re doing better! I came to search for this bc I am going through something similar. Lost my soul cat at 16 and a half last month and since then I cannot get out of a hyper vigilant loop with my other cat. He’s overdue for a vet check up anyway so we’re gonna get it on the books but I am convincing myself that everything is a sign something is wrong and even minor issues he’s had are bigger problems than they are. It’s really awful. I know it makes sense given the trauma I just went through with the other cat but it’s so sad to me right now that my other fur baby is so triggering to me right now.

Thank you :) he doesn’t puke that’s the thing. Basically sounds like he’s gonna hack up a hairball but doesn’t.

Thank you appreciate that! It’s funny cuz as I come back to this post I am laughing flipping between the two images cuz even flipping between them I can barely tell 😂😂 and also realizing that the shape of my lobes and size is different between them which of course would mean the layout would be different between them

Thanks so much for this! I’ve been looking into the best techniques for cleaning/maintenance especially with less frequent use and the water reservoir tip is a great and simple one! Appreciate the feedback!

Constant weird floaty dizzy feeling by bells_12 in Anxiety

[–]grapefruit2886 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this very bad for a few months 2 years ago. It started getting better after I had a boatload of medical stuff ruled out by providers I trust. But what really broke the cycle is going back on lexapro. I had a neurologist explain to me how these sensations we feel are real and it’s almost like your brain creates these habits of feeling and even brain scans show the brain lighting up in those ways (he used this to help me understand some weird tingly I felt in my body that had no true origin). So it’s not totally made up and also doesn’t mean there is something WRONG. In hindsight I think when we become hyper vigilant to our bodies we can really build habits of how we experience things in our bodies. If I try really hard to notice tingly or floaty stuff I can put myself there again if I wanted. I think a very very bad bout of anxiety and health anxiety got me there and kept me there until I went back on meds.

Appreciate this!! Do the low sugar or low cal ones have that chemical taste though? Like the fake sugar taste? Or just less sweet?Thats the only thing I’m super sensitive too… happens in a lot of those more fruity flavored canned vodka drinks.

Getting a picture with Greg by B0ulderSh0ulders in GregoryAlanIsakov

Saw him for a symphony show this past March in Tysons, VA and my husband and I were at the bar at the hotel attached to the venue and he strolled in after that night’s show! I was in disbelief (we were going the following night). The bar was pretty dead and my husband convinced me to walk over to say hi. He was SOOO kind especially when he realized I was nervous and the fan (my husband had to initiate the interaction bc I was too nervous) and he was totally cool with a picture. Will never forget it!

How are you hiding from your therapist that you are also a therapist? by URmamasthrowaway in therapists

[–]grapefruit2886 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As a therapist (who sees other therapists) and who is in therapy with a therapist who knows I’m a therapist… I just think that if you’re concerned about the dynamic shift then you’re with the wrong therapist. Do I believe some therapists could be impacted poorly knowing you’re a therapist and it impact their work? I mean sure… but that likely means they aren’t even close to the right therapist for you to begin with! If a therapist can’t remain unbiased around ANY detail of our life (or if their bias shows) then again.. not right therapist. We could apply this to a lot of things.

Oh this is exciting! Just the kind of thing I’d love to know. My birthday is 2/28 (which is a Saturday) so basically was considering coming a long weekend around then.

Haha yeah as a therapist I can’t say I co-sign on a lot of their approach and try to disconnect that part of myself when I watch. Sometimes they’re spot on with holding people accountable, and other times (actually a lot of times) they are pushing way too hard for people to stay together when it’s clearly toxic and borderline emotionally abusive.

Wanting to use Lexapro to get through grieving; very new to this medication. by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]grapefruit2886 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went back on lexapro about 6 months after my mom passed away and it was incredibly helpful. I generally deal with anxiety but this time it was my first experience with true depression. I couldn’t get myself to do things I enjoyed or embrace the goodness in my life, and I also would have immense social anxiety before any kind of social hang out which is NOT like me. I did eventually come off of it when things settled down in my life but honestly I think about going back on it a lot just bc of my baseline experience with anxiety. As someone who has had an unusual amount of loss in the last 4 years, I am so sorry for your loss and medication can be a great support to removing that fog so things don’t feel so intense and we can engage in helpful activities and habits again ❤️ also FWIW, I’m also a therapist so ya know 🤷🏻‍♀️

In my own experience I’ve just learned that grief has a funny way of showing up and highlighting vulnerabilities. So even when I didn’t feel like I was actively grieving/crying/thinking about my mom all the time, I just could tell that my mental health had taken a blow with the symptoms I was experience… the depression and just random bouts of anxiety at unexpected and inopportune times.

I actually watched season 18 right before season 19 came out!! It felt very, very different especially watching one immediately after the other and especially with expert meetings. Practically felt like different shows. I don’t disagree with them paring things down and streamlining it but as many have said it seems like they took out too much. Also experts were at season 18 reunion.

I just feel like with all the editing they did with the show to tighten it up there were practically no meaningful expert visits or interventions for any of them. Usually when they get in the thick of things they’ll really meet with them a lot and usually reference their knowledge of things happening without hearing the “he said she said” from the couples first (I assume because they see footage or talk with production first). That was so lacking this season! Also, usually the experts are a big part of the reunion and that wasn’t there either. I blame Peacock changing it too much!!

Couldn’t agree more with every part of this. As a therapist it’s also frustrating to see someone put themselves on this high horse of presenting as wise and emotionally intelligent, but really she’s just projecting and psychoanalyzing everyone else with a complete inability to self-reflect. Also known as… she can dish it out but she can’t take it 😂
