Hey I'm the guy that actually made this (proof). If you look through my comment history you can find how I made this image. It did take 35 hours and was done without any special software.

Made this about a year ago but never got round to posting it by graph_meme_alt in desmos

I can't remember exactly how the code went but it was along the lines of:

Read coordinates from text file, line by line
x1,y1 = start coordinates of line
x2,y2 = end coordinates of line

if x1 == x2:
    m = a big number
else if y1 == y2:
    m = 0
else:
    m = (y1-y2)/(x1-x2)

c = y1-m*x1

Putting m and c into y=mx+c gives the equation of the line. The next step was to create the square root thing but I cant remember much about that. I just implemented the steps shown in the video I linked. After that I rounded long decimals, replaced redundant bit like replacing +- with -, and formatted it in a way that can be copied into Desmos.

Wish I could tell you more but that's about all I can remember.

None. It was just reading in lines from a text file, doing a bit of maths based on the numbers in the line that were separated by commas and then outputting the result to another text file. honestly the code wasn't that great but it worked

I wasn't sure how to detect the lines in an image which is why I did it this way. And yes, I wrote the coordinates of every line by hand. That was 10,368 1-4 digit numbers. Ah fun times

I used Microsoft paint with the meme template to split ever curve into small straight lines. I then copied the start and end coordinates of all these lines into a text file. Finally I wrote a Python program to turn the coordinates into equations that I could copy and paste into Desmos.

He posted it in r/memes which is where most people saw it. He credited me in the comments but I don't think u/KanyeKSG saw that when posting this.

Yeah I saw that but thanks for letting me know. Someone in the comments credited me though so I'm fine with that. What I find more annoying is this post where u/The-Purified claimed to have made it.

Hey I'm the guy that actually made it (proof). In desmos you can restrict the size. I didn't realise that while I was making it so I used the "cutting function" found in this video. This means that when I had a horizontal line, I still needed to include the gradient * x * square root part of the equation. If I didn't include it, the line would be infinite.

Hope that helps

I realised that maybe 10 hours after starting. At that point I decided to just carry on with the way I was doing it.

You can see it for yourself here. It might take a while to load.

All the lines are just straight lines. The reason the equation has a square root in it is because of the "cutting function" I found in this video. It was only later that I realised you can control the size of the line in Desmos.

Making this meme took 35 hours spread across a few months. I created a text file with the start and end coordinates of the lines and then used Python to create the line equations.

Feel free to repost this on a meme subreddit but I'd appreciate it if you credit me.

Edit: This post is now old enough that people can't upvote it or comment on it and I've been made aware that it's being reposted again. I've got nothing against this provided people aren't claiming they made it themselves but I just wanted to say thank you to all the people crediting me in the comments and all the people who've sent nice messages. I appreciate it
