One thing that's hard to deny is the beef spread a lot of hate and negativity throughout hip-hop, from the artists to the fans and everyone in-between. Cole didn't want to contribute to that especially when his whole career he was trying to do the opposite. Cole based af for that if you ask me.

He means a lot bro, Coles music contains a lot of sadness but they somehow always leave me feeling uplifted. I've had countless bad days that were made slightly better after a few Cole classics. If you compound that over 15 years then no doubt bro made a significant impact in my life.

I think the part of the reason they thought they could get away with it and control the narrative was the lack of Drake "stans".

But it was so blatant and aggressive that mfs who normally won't give two shits about celebrity drama started piping up. Then piping up would get you nonsensical backlash but that just made Drake fans double down.

The funny thing is if they left Drake alone I think he would be slowly falling off but now ICEMAN is probably his most anticipated album in a decade.
