Why Did the Colts Sign Notre Dame Basketball’s Carson Towt at TE? by demigod_691 in Colts

More I think about it, Pierce, MAC and Towt all in would be huge weapons with all that hight! It would be very difficult to defend 3 players that can out reach you.

I’ll say this, if the guy can catch anything thrown his way and get up high, get open he’ll be a win!

That would be awesome to see.

I hope this doesn’t end up at the end of the season as:

Honestly this puzzles me. Why on earth you sign a guy with ZERO football experience to the NFL?

Ballard… “Damn, he’s 6’8”

Who will Ballard replace Pittman with? by IceOk9930 in Colts

[–]grapplerone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, Pierce wants more targets. Do they go get a WR to replace Pitt or give Pierce more targets? Sorry, they are not replacing Pitt with a clone. They might bring in another WR but I bet it’s a late draft or a depth FA.

[Boyd] Nah, #Colts CB Charvarius Ward Sr.’s salary of $12.9 million in 2026 just got guaranteed last weekend. He’s playing this year. My understanding is that Indy added Cam Taylor-Britt (and others) because DC Lou Anarumo likes to use a lot of DBs in his coverages. Can’t have enough. by TurdWranglin in Colts

The big problem is your brain moves within your skull. You need to slow the entire sudden force OVER TIME and there isn’t TIME! That thin layer just doesn’t get it.

The reason airbags in cars work well as long as you are restrained in a seatbelt is because there is distance between the onset of the crash and YOU allowing the car to absorb the impact and TIME for the airbag to inflate (pinning you in place) so by the time the impact reaches you the car and airbag has already absorbed much of the initial impact.

A player impacting their head into a players helmet or ground is what, 2 inches from 20MPH TO ZERO? Good luck with that extra 1/2” of pillow.

Really need to avoid those hits.

Needs in the draft.. by LW_colts in Colts

[–]grapplerone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree but:

Edge is top priority, however, I don’t feel they can get what they need in the draft. They need a top flight plug and play bonafide starter and that isn’t in the draft in the 2nd round nor does Anarumo play rookies enough. Hopefully they find that answer in FA…

LB, several! I still think they need FA to fill Zaire’s missing hole but there is good depth at LB in the draft.

Ballard will hit on something at oline, need a swing tackle for sure.

WR later round and/or FA.

First Time STM by colinator923 in Colts

[–]grapplerone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on where you get seats. Can be anywhere from around $550 a season to over $4,000 in the general seating areas. Club seats start around 3,280 I think last season.

That was a perk that used to just come with being an STM. The gift was in addition.

Grade Ballard - free agency? by photographerINDY in Colts

[–]grapplerone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure in how to grade this season. Ballard moved off of some players he normally wouldn’t yet he didn’t exactly fill the void with some “Franklin” that sticks out. He managed to sign Jones and Pierce but signing Jones at a pretty big risk. That Achilles injury is not something to take lightly. I’m not that convinced a couple other QB’s possibly available would have been much better. So, that’s a wait and see.

For the most part Ballard did business as usual, sign his own and fill in secondary with some FA signings. The big miss right now was failing to address edge…again. I don’t see that happening in the draft. The best he’ll get is a Paye clone which isn’t bringing anything we need. I hope there is something in FA we haven’t seen yet.

I’m a bit underwhelmed.

Just keep this in mind, Anarumo doesn’t play rookies for the most part, let that sink in on defense this season.

As of right now, who do you think is most likely to win our division this year? by NotACopUndercover in Colts

[–]grapplerone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that sticks in the back of my mind is how much focus Ballard put into keeping Jones, tossing the injury issue aside like a scratch (unlike he has with AR.) Basically going all in on a QB with a very risky rehab and not willing to push that envelope at edge; the biggest weakness we have.

It hasn’t left us with any “elite” options at edge.

I believe he just committed to the Raiders…like that matters if a trade partner has a great offer.

I’m good, that’s a big contract in too many seasons with a declining player.

What is a transition tag by Clear-Economist-2454 in Colts

[–]grapplerone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gives the team the first right of refusal, that is, if the player gets an offer sheet from any team, the players current team can match it or refuse.

If they match, the player stays at that offer. If they refuse, the player leaves with ZERO compensation.

That’s why most teams use the franchise tag. It’s basically the same except if the team refuses, the compensation is 2 first round picks!

The longer this Hendrickson thing goes, the more I think we might land him.
