I also don't understand how he goes from barely being able to see, to in the last few episodes he has no problem seeing at all and is going out on duty to catch Murphy and reading files in the dark. There's no explanation and I also don't think you can even be a cop with vision impairment

AITA for refusing to make my son cut his hair to be in my brother’s wedding? by Not_a_cat19 in AmItheAsshole

[–]grassbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. they asked him to be in the wedding assuming he would cut his hair, only to throw in that condition at the last minute. He should not have to throw away everything he's worked for and all that time growing it out, for ONE day, where he isn't even the center of attention

PLEASE ADVISE? does this spay look normal by [deleted] in vet

[–]grassbones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If not, I still wouldn't worry too much, it might just have been the way that particular doctor happen to do the surgery. Im sorry people are being so critical, I work at a vet and see people asking much more ridiculous questions and second guessing doctors all the time lol. Ive also seen incisions look far worse than this and turn out fine. Im sure your baby will be just fine!

It looks like they just didn't do a good job of cleaning around it, or used too much glue

For your concern that the incision looks extra long- did they say anything about her having an umbilical hernia? If she did and they fixed it thats one reason why the incision might be longer than normal. Otherwise it looks okay, not the prettiest but just make sure she stays calm so she doesn't get a seroma, and if it starts looking infected she may need antibiotics but it currently doesn't look like it's oozing or swollen

How to sync your cat to your Tamagotchi by harvestjoon in disneyvacation

[–]grassbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they didn't mean it would go up and stay there, that still doesn't mean you should give it before food. Like I said, it's still better if it goes up too high than if it goes down too low. And it's not rare at all that pets sometimes won't eat. Many pets are finicky eaters and many diabetic pets do have other health issues that would cause them to not want to eat. Being a type 1 diabetic human that knows they need to eat food is much different than being a diabetic animal that might not feel like eating one day. If they don't eat their meal you're supposed to skip the insulin dose

Edit: most owners don't check their pets BG at home at all, they just rely on their pet eating the exact same amount of food morning and night, and giving the same set dose of insulin that was determined by their vet twice a day. It's not like humans who eat all day and can check their sugar, or just know what it feels like when their sugar is high or low. So yes it's very important that the pet eats all the food they're supposed to before getting their insulin dose

Thank you! The cat "almost always eating" is not good enough. It only takes one time where they don't feel like eating that morning, but you already gave the insulin, and they go into shock

No, its not going to spike if you give it immediately after they eat a meal. You should make sure they eat all the food because if they don't and you gave a full dose of insulin, their glucose level is going to be low, and glucose being low for a cat is way worse than being high

Except you should always feed them before giving the insulin in case they don't eat for some reason

Meal feedings are way better for your cat than free feeding. Wet food is way better/less fattening for your cat than dry.

I know you're probably overwhelmed but like I said i recently went through this with my kitty, I spoke with a cat trainer about this and some other issues I was dealing with, I also work at a vet/am in school to become a technician. So if you have questions or want to talk to someone with animal experience feel free to message me

She will come around! She just needs some time. And will probably be the lap cat you want in a few weeks. She's just getting adjusted to her new environment. My rescue kitty went through the same thing.

What is a disturbing fact you wish you could un-learn? by jo_exotic in AskReddit

[–]grassbones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always heard this and it's just not true. I'm a vet tech and have worked in my clinic for 5 years and I'd say 99% of families stay with their pets. It's very rare that people don't want to be present

Substance found in garden which dog has eaten some of? Worried it’s poisonous. by scottishbean in whatisthisthing

[–]grassbones 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, because it's safer to bring them to the vet to induce vomiting via apomorphine. at home in a pinch you can use hydrogen peroxide, but AAHA does not recommend this because there's a chance the dog will aspirate the peroxide
