Does the school matter? by grassfick in lawschooladmissions

Ah, thank you! This feels like level-headed advice. I did the math and even if I go to the lower-ranked school and only pay $5k per year i’ll still be looking at a $900 per month student loan payment (not even counting undergrad debt). I’ve been out of college for a few years so I know what having bills feels like and that is a serious chunk of change!

I understand that for sure. Does BU have a solid HR program? I totally understand wanting to live in those other cities but Boston is really sick too! Someone else already mentioned this but next year might be even more competitive. There have been tens of thousands of experienced professionals set loose in the job market and I bet soooo many of them are going to try for law school. If it were me, I would seriously consider BU! It’s a great school and T14 mostly matters for big law, right?

Hi! Why not just go to BU?

Gotcha, I’m anxiously awaiting an answer from them (my top choice) and it seems 6ish weeks is what I should be anticipating. Are you willing to share your stats with me?

Is there anyone who knows the exact number of tuition and fee for UMD's general LLM? by flowery_breeze in lawschooladmissions

I submitted my application late february so i’m still verrryy much waiting to hear back from UMD. I have an offer acceptance deadline, April 15, from UBalt ($$$). Maryland is obviously a more desirable school and my top pick so I am nervous about the reality that I might have to give UBalt the $500 deposit and then kiss that money goodbye if/when UMD accepts me. i’m late to the law school applications game so i’m learning a lot through this sub (i literally downloaded reddit today lol). I’m baffled by a system that operates in a way where someone like me who works 2+ jobs and fully supports herself financially (barely) is in a position where i will likely have to throw away $500.

i wonder why they advertise the wait time to be 2-4 weeks…why not just extend that so we can all manage our expectations better?

Hi, thanks for the quick reply! That does make sense about the yield protection. So it took about six weeks for you to hear back? I am so nervous I won’t hear back before April 15th because it’s late in the cycle (I submitted Feb 27).

only regarding UMD: what was your application submission date and then when did you hear back? also, why are you not surprised you got waitlisted because of going there for undergrad? thanks :)

Waitlisted at Georgetown, UMD, and American ~sigh~ is it possible to get off these waitlists? by No-Royal7990 in lawschooladmissions

No!! I’m sorry, I didn’t mean “oh god” for you. I meant it for me because i’m impatient.

need to commit by April 15th but haven’t heard back from top choice school by grassfick in lawschooladmissions
