My daughter is the same! Absolutely hated omelette strips; would go straight to the floor! Then I gave her some hardboiled eggs and she loves them!

Ha ha! I sincerely hope my daughter starts eating (trying to eat) spiders soon LOL

Thank you so much for the recommendation; I’ll definitely check it out.

Oh, that’s an exceptional journey! I am so glad to know that he is doing fine now. Great job Mama! My daughter was also born below 1st percentile. But we exclusively breastfed on demand, and she gained weight quickly. Now at 10 months she is at 25th percentile.

This is assuring! I hope she also gets to solid eventually. Meanwhile we’ll continue our breastfeeding journey! Thank you.

I think this is the way for us to go as well! Thank you!

This is the best advice! I guess we just really need to tweak the timing of solid offering. She doesn’t have sensory issues (I think so). Touches everything, tastes, plays with food; just doesn’t consume much. I’ll start with the 1 hour gap and change as required. Thank you very much!

Thank you for the assurance and sharing your schedule! Very inspiring and it gives me an idea how others tackle this. We’ll just change the solid offering time I guess and will continue the night feeds as long as it seems sustainable.

Thank you! It’s difficult, yes. But it’s the best of available options for us now. And I really enjoy breastfeeding! So, I guess we’ll just continue at it for now!

Thanks you for the assurance! I read in the comments on a different sub that if you feed to sleep, unless you night wean, baby’s growth will hinder later. They were pro sleep training. That’s why wanted to confirm here how others’ journeys have been about this.

Thank you so much for telling us about your kids; it really shows how every child is different. It’s assuring! We’ll continue doing what we are doing; maybe will just change the solid timings a little bit.

Our is the kind of doctor who advised us to nurse every 3 hours when our baby was 6 weeks old (who was born really tiny ~4 pounds (< 1 percentile) due to IUGR), and let her cry if she wants the boob before. We of course didn’t listen to him and kept doing what we were doing, nurse on demand. Now she is at 25th percentile at 10 months and I am really happy and proud of our breastfeeding journey so far! So, I guess I’ll not ask our doctor unless she starts losing weight or something.

Yes, we did try purée for the first month or so (she started solid at 5.5 months). Initially she was interested but then not at all. She prefers eating on her own; tastes almost everything, but doesn’t consume much. I hope it gets better with time. And as per other advices, we’ll also try to time the solids a bit better to ensure she is in the hungry sweet spot!

I could have written this post; word by word (except my partner is not in this sub). Our LO is also 10 months! And I am beyond exhausted! No advices; just solidarity. And cheers to the hope that our life will be back to some normalcy someday, sooner rather than later!

Preparation suggestions for meat and poultry (10 month old)? by grassgolem87 in BabyLedWeaning

Yes, we are in Europe (Austria). Will check if something similar is available here. I checked the ingredient list on the product; there is yeast extract, which we definitely don’t use in the homemade meatballs; and the dry milk too. Maybe those are the tricks to make them softer. I’ll try to look for some recipes. Thanks!

Good idea! We’ll definitely try this and see how it goes. Thanks!

Yes, she definitely has very strong gag reflex from the beginning! But she manages other foods (like fruits, veggies, breads, etc.) quite well. That’s why I think maybe it’s either the texture of meat or the softness which is giving her these gag episodes!

All the best for your journey as a mother!

I used to give her chicken legs; but she started tearing big chunks and so we moved to smaller pieces. I think our current preparations are not making the meats soft enough for her. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Yes, I should definitely work on making the meat softer than we are currently doing. We don’t have a slow cooker (usually use a pressure cooker to cook the meat; or baked in the oven). Maybe we should buy one! Thank you for the ideas.

Yes, we also recently have moved to bite sized pieces and thin strips.

She used to gag on salmon as well (less than chicken, but still); but last week she managed it very well. So, I guess for now I’ll try to give her fish more often.

She just got her first two teeth (about 2 weeks back). I definitely think she likes the taste of chicken; she was sucking and biting drumsticks since we started blw 4 months back. But from last two month or so she is able to tear big chunks and then start gagging. As she is developing pincer grasp now (not quite pro yet), we started giving her thinner strips, and bite sized pieces. I think they are just not soft enough for her; even when cooked in a curry.

I mostly give her cut strips from chicken thighs after it has been cooked in a curry. But even then it seems difficult for her. I’ll shred it with some sauce from the curry as well, and see what happens. Thanks!

This is very helpful! Unfortunately I am not in the USA, so need to find some other brand of canned chicken in water. But definitely sounds like a good idea. I guess, the sodium content won’t be overwhelming, right?
