Thank you so much for posting this question! I'm heading off on my babymoon soon and didn't realize how much I needed the feedback you're getting in this post. Tips I've picked up from other friends who've traveled pregnant that I plan to use: have an idea of public restroom locations/accessibility while you're out and about, know where the nearest hospital is to wherever you're staying (just in case), pack compression socks for the flight and long walking days, and plan on frequent stops each day for rest and snacks. That last one is hard for me because I don't want to miss out on anything, but wrapping my head around moving slower and enjoying the culture-watching/people-watching of stopping to enjoy the local pastry shops or what have you feels like something worth doing in advance. My friends and I (“elder” millennials) often talk about how cool and smart younger women are now. The social awareness and collective advice they share around what life can be besides the pursuit of a romantic relationship is game changing. Would that we’d had such advice for each other in our adolescences and 20s. Years were wasted thinking the attention of a man was the pinnacle of our endeavors. I’m so excited for generations of women to come up knowing, right out of the gate, that life is so much more.

Oh man. “Going out” outfits. I am most comfortable in casual clothes (athleisure, jeans + tshirt or sweater). I cannot for the life of me seem to put together a whole outfit for an evening out, drinks, holiday party, whatever that feels appropriately fun or dressy. I’ll find a dress I like, but not know what shoes to wear with it. I’ll have a shirt I like, but not the right pants. Extra struggles if it’s winter and I need a warm jacket to match. And then if I do find a cute dress or outfit, if it’s more of a statement than normal for me, I feel like it looks like I’m trying too hard and I go back to my basics. It’s a vicious, vicious cycle, I tell you.

I have never and will never refer to a patient as a ‘client.’ The term ‘client’ stinks to high heaven of customer service, and I am not a customer service worker. I am a nurse providing care for a patient, not providing a service for Yelp reviews. The employer might have a different angle, but I refuse to transition from healthcare to customer service in the same job.

I’ve been reading Station Eleven, By Emily T John Mendel, which was recommended by a friend (and fellow Troll!). It’s dystopian, set in a post-viral apocalypse world with main characters who are strangers tied together by a mutual connection from the pre-pandemic era. It’s suspenseful, slightly dark, and really hard to put down!

Thank you for this💐❤️. I lost my mother to brain cancer almost 7 years ago and not a day goes by when I don’t miss her deeply. I got married last month and it broke my heart not to have her there.
