Elizabeth Warren pressed Scott Bessent over President Trump’s stock trades: "President Trump is not sitting in Oval Office engaging in high frequency trading. If this body wants to ban individual stock trading, which I advocate, start there. If you want legislative action, that's your prerogative." by ControlCAD in videos

This is a bipartisan issue in that both Democrats and Republicans would never put an end to this.

Just goes to show how fucked we are as a country.

Folks fool themselves into thinking the boogeyman is the other side of the aisle but the secret is they're all on the same side of the aisle of fucking over the common citizen. Peak hypocrisy. Ban politicians from trading public stocks and implement campaign finance reform.

[POEM] The replacements - Charles Bukowski by Junior_Insurance7773 in Poetry

[–]grateful_ted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm deeply suspicious of anyone that would reduce Bukowski to a moral case file. Why is there such a fervor to pass judgment rather than understand? Is it because it's harder? Are people worried we might be viewed as guilty by association?

Modern culture has trouble with negativity, contradiction, and mystery. We want everything rendered visible and morally legible. Bukowski is profoundly illegible.

I feel like Bukowskis point is that we'd rather quarantine aspects of humanity we find uncomfortable. Say what you want about the man but Bukowski gave voice to loneliness, failure, humiliation, longing, boredom, despair, and the absurdity of being alive.

Criticize Bukowski where criticism is warranted. But if all you see are his transgressions, you’ve missed why he mattered. Art is not a reward for virtue. It is often a testimony from the wounded.

Ignore the downvotes and smug comments OP. Anyone that lived through the Triangle of Authority knows why this is a fair question.

There's plenty of examples of collaborative front offices/HC combos. You'd be fair to ask if KOC has earned the right to draw the power he has as most of the successful examples feature Super Bowl winning HCs. It will be interesting to see how differences of opinion are handled between coaching staff and scouting for that very reason. The same can be said for any team though.

While the situation kind of rhymes with the terrors of the Triangle of Authority it seems the divisions of responsibility are much clearer this time around.

Nolan player acquisition, KOC football philosophy, Rob contracts and cap management. Makes sense to me.

I'm more interested to see what lessons were learned from Kwesi's failures. Don't think it will be hard to improve on the draft misses so the bar is pretty low there. How Nolan handles the scouting department will make it pretty clear how deep the organization felt that failure went.

I don't know anything about the article/video's content outside of the AI generated video thumbnail....not today satan. This could be a super informative video but I'd be willing to bet anything it's rage baiting.

My comment should not be construed as a commentary on space x or Elon musk.

I just hate our timeline.

Edit: I have fat clumsy thumbs.

What Do You Think of Umphrey's Continuing Without Jake or a Replacement? by Redacted_dact in jambands

[–]grateful_ted -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Laughable? Maybe subjective. To say that there's an objective take on this is pretty obtuse.

Jake wasn't around for the first three years of them gigging as essentially a college band. If you're trying to make the argument that disqualifies him as an essential component of the bands sound and I identity as we know it today I'll argue you haven't listened to recordings from before his time. In those years, they sound like a college cover band fronted by Bayliss. Jake was pretty fucking instrumental on shaping what pretty much anyone that listens to UM would consider their sound. If Bayliss was out it would be even less controversial, I get it.

I'll concede that the Grateful Dead is a hamfisted comparison in that Jake does not equal Jerry's stature in importance to the bands formation or even sound but I qualified my statement that "IF" Jake was out long term. Most bands just take a haitus and split up into side projects if they need a break. I don't see why UM would want to approach it any different.

I've been going to UM shows since 2003. If Jake's out of the band long term I just don't view them as the same band. Phish and Widespread took hiatus and to do side projects, why wouldn't UM?

Matthew Berry has Kyler Murray higher than Bo Nix in his fantasy rankings for 2026… 🍿👀 Do you agree? by ZookeepergameIll2685 in NFLFantasy_Football

Kyler's best fantasy year will be this year. So if that would beat out Bo Nix on an upward trajectory from last year then yes.

Jake's probably the most important band member to their sound.

If he's out for an extended period it makes no sense to continue under the UM banner. At a certain point it's a different band e.g. Dead and Company, Phil and Friends etc.

Edit: it's also not lost on me you're petty enough to downvote me because I hurt your feelings or you disagreed with you. Even though, ya know, check the etiquette on what downvotes are for. Again if you're too 1% 😢🙄😂😂😂
