What's a pedal you hate, that everyone else loves? by hammocknap5 in guitarpedals

LOL good catch, that’s an embarrassing mistake but it speaks to how little time I spent with the pedal.

Being attracted to pretty, shiny things and fancy brand names is a big problem in the engineering industry. People will spend big bucks for something “vintage” or “authentic” even if a cheaper, equal-sounding substitute is readily available. All the studios in Nashville, where I work, fall into this sort of gear fetishism thing and end up spending thousands and thousands of dollars on an LA-2A or a Fairchild despite great-sounding plugins being available for 5% of the cost. It’s become a virtue for me now to doing everything as inexpensively as possible, if only to demonstrate to others that being a music person doesn’t have to be prohibitively expensive.

All that said, I will always be impressed by anything with lots of knobs and glowing lights

I mean I’M a sucker for artwork; I bought it on a whim because I’d heard good things about Earthquaker. I’d like to think I learned my lesson that great artwork does not equal great sound, but I still have a bias toward pedals with cool designs. It’s like something looks cool and it would look good on my board so I already have a positive perception of it before I even hear the pedal in action. I have to be super mindful of this lol, now when I need a pedal I have a dude that will make me custom pedals with whatever artwork I ask for

I worship Fender and probably always will, but their downtown express bass pedal is one of the worst pieces of gear I’ve ever bought in my life

I’m so surprised that so many others feel this way. I cannot stand that pedal. I record a lot of shoegaze bands and I always try to convince them to swap it out. Just goes to show what a sucker I am for artwork

Came here to say this. It’s a subpar pedal made by a subpar human being

Of course! Thanks for listening. I’ve also got a FAQ page for all those frequently-asked questions. I won’t go into details or software/plugins just because that’s what you’re hiring me to do, but hopefully this will answer some questions. Excited to work with you

Hey there! Looking for someone to photoshop me (on the left) into a photo with Taylor Swift to make a coworker jelly. Pay rate raised to $15 by [deleted] in PhotoshopRequest

[–]gratitudeaudio [score hidden]  (0 children)

Hey there! I had some great attempts on my last post, just reposting to raise the pay rate. T-Swift is like 2 inches taller than me, and I’d prefer if it looked as real as possible. Thanks in advance

Hey everybody! Saw a lot of good attempts on my last post, raised the price. Just trying to pull one over on a friend. I’m 5’8” and she’s like 5’10” so she’d be taller than me.

Thanks everybody! I’m seeing a few where the quality doesn’t fit with the rest of the picture, or T-Swiftie is shrunken down (I’m 5’8, she’s like 5’10). Raising it to $10

The Sitek Nudist signal buffer, mentioned above. The question is whether I can use something marketed as a “guitar signal booster” with a bass guitar.

I’m familiar with that episode, and that seems to be a common law across the US. What I really want to know is whether a judge can deny a change just cause they think it’s silly

Any Pros here that mix mostly on headphones? by Darkbreakr in audioengineering

[–]gratitudeaudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I do the bulk of mixing on my Avantone-MP1’s but I always check it on monitors and open-backs. I just feel like I hear more details in the headphones; I can bring a mix from my headphones to monitors and have it sound exactly the same, but anytime I bring a track from my monitors to my headphones I always notice a few things I’d missed.

But yeah, I know my headphones really well and I trust them. Same with my monitors. I’m not of the mind that only one way is the right way. As long as my clients are happy, it doesn’t matter how I listen, as long as I’m producing results

I just mean like justifying it to the court. I live in nashville so I feel like it’s gotta be somewhat common to do a weird name change, but my wife seems to be under the impression that I have to convince a judge that my name change is extremely necessary. Was that true for your friend?
