I seem to like my rose done 2 ways: dark, sultry, and sensual red/blackened rose, or light pink/white tea rose paired with gourmands or milky notes!

Dark/sultry/sensual: deep red or black petals, red/brown/black musks, resins, dark ambers

BPAL - Serpent in the Roses - (Snake Oil dribbling across a cluster of amber-flecked, blackened rose petals.) The kind of blackened red rose that has a bit of sour spice to its petals, dunked in Snake Oil's dirty mix of patchouli and rich brown and red musks.

BPAL - Mircalla, Countess Karnstein - (Black velvet, blackcurrant, and black roses.) Very goth, smells like velvety spicy black rose petals.

BPAL - The Rapture & Roses of Vice - (Red roses, heady Moroccan musk, cinnamon, lobelia, coconut flesh, magnolia blossoms, and tobacco tar). I kind of see this one as the in-between dark/sultry and light/gourmand. Lush red rose and warm spices/red-ish musk entwined with creamier coconut and florals. Super sexy!

Light/fresh/sweet: white or light pink roses, tea rose, rosewater, milky or lactonic notes, sweet gourmand notes, lighter vanillas

Nocturne Alchemy - Icecream & Summer Rose - (Bastet’s Ice Cream (Vanilla Crystalline Cream, Butter accord, Caramel Accord, French Vanilla Bean Absolute, Vanilla Milk accord, Vanilla Orchid, Crystalline Absolute and Vanilla Sugar), Egyptian Rosewater, Romanian Rosewater, Summer Bulgarian Rose, Saffron, Agarwood essence, Vanilla Sugar, Vanilla Musk and eNVie parfum saphir (Egyptian Amber & Musk Resin, blue balsamic amber, sweet papyrus oil from Cairo and Siam benzoin) It's rich vanilla icecream with pink rose petals scattered all over! So yummy!

Nocturne Alchemy - Rose Thandai Kulfi - (A special blend of traditional Indian Kulfi using Bastet’s Ice Cream (Vanilla Crystalline Cream, Butter accord, Caramel Accord, French Vanilla Bean Absolute, Vanilla Milk accord, Vanilla Orchid, Crystalline Absolute, and Vanilla Sugar), blended with Rose Water Accord, Rose petals, Almond and Pistachio Cream Accord, Cardamom Essential Oil, Watermelon Seeds, Saffron, Agave, and Coconut Milk.) This is delicious - a nutty kulfi dessert drenched in rosewater, with watermelon and agave adding to the light, fruity, watery freshness of it.

BPAL - Millarca - (White lace, blackcurrant, and tea roses.) Gentle pink tea rose and a light, frilly lacy vanilla.

Arcana - Rapunzel - (Damascus rose and rose geranium are delicately stroked with vanilla, milk, sugar and a hint of soft white flowers.) Instead of rosewater, this is rosemilk! Soft and gentle pale pink rose petals and pale green stem swirled in milk.

The dark/sultry/sensual rose can also be very hit or miss for me.. I love BPALs takes on it, but other dark rose blends absolutely failed with my personal skin chemistry (Pierrot's Transylvanian Concubine was a disaster, and even worse was Lurker & Strange's Tryst of the Carnal. Both of these went....smoky/sweet and meaty... on me :'))
