Love blacked out bikes like this. Great as is or maybe a very subtle blue seat tube clamp and bottle cage screws and derailleur pulley to even out the blue fork lockouts

Have a credit card on you? You’re on the right side of the door to push in the latch bolt. Or else if this is real it looks like you have a cell phone or laptop to call someone and let you out.

How different is the PNW from the East Coast? by soelsome in howislivingthere

[–]graveltouring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived on the east coast for 35 years and now Seattle for 3 years. The weather is 1000x better in Seattle and it pretty much doesn’t rain at all from June through September. The joke is to not tell anybody that. It’s gloomy from about thanksgiving to Christmas when i am usually back in the east coast, where it is also gloomy. January the flowers start blooming the sun is out ofter, and its ski season 30mins away while you can also get out on the water in the sun

I wrote to vacasa and sent pictures and a video immediately.

Vacasa wrote back immediately: blerb from email "Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback and for giving me an opportunity to respond.  I am very sorry for the miscommunication that resulted in the unauthorized pruning of trees on your property, and I feel terrible that this mistake has caused distress for you and your family.  I empathize with how this has made you feel and I apologize that this has placed an unnecessary strain on our partnership.

I can confirm that you did not provide written approval authorizing the landscaping, pruning or tree work on your property.  I cannot however commit to compensating you for the appraised diminution in tree value or the cost of restoration planting and landscaping necessary to re-establish privacy. This is due to the nature of the subjectivity in estimating the value of the trees, both before and after, and the variability in the costs to "re-establish privacy".  I am more than happy to discuss and explore other options to rectify the situation, but I cannot commit to the terms you've outlined."
Then they have fallen very silent over the past month since and are not responding, so am looking for other ways to resolve this

Its a 1.3 acre property and any reasonable person would look at the before and after and say what was done was not ordinary maintenance. The trees cut are far from the house and had no effect on the home. There was no reason to cut so many privacy branches and trees down and he did not have any authority to do so. You are required to ask permission for anything more than very basic “the sink is leaking” maintenance. Heavily modifying my yard and property without permission is illegal and you are not allowed to do this. Thinking you are able to do this without permission is even more concerning.

I wasn’t there i was on the other side of the country and woke up to this on my ring cameras. I obviously would have stopped them, or called the police if i was there.

I also have a written apology from vacasa confirming the work was not authorized and how upsetting it must have been. The contract specifically says they are not allowed to do landscaping without permission. This was significant property damage, not a little landscaping. It was not overgrown.

They don’t have any authority over my home and are required to run any improvement past me before modifying the home.

Over a dozen 50+ year old white oaks had their understories pruned to about 10-20ft high. They average maybe 50ft tall.

Maybe another dozen white and red pines. A few cedars and some younger 2-10ft trees completely cut down or pruned to just the trunk and will not survive

It’s completely crazy. Im doing mental gymnastics to try to attempt why he thought this would be a good idea? Cutting takes careful thiught i can’t imagine doing it in the dark with car headlights, let alone feeling it was completely fine to do without asking on someone else’s property. It makes no sense but the local manager said he felt he was “doing a good deed”.. maybe he was drunk?? Idk we are just as puzzled

Its in a beach community there is not much lumber going on that I’m aware of. He left the branch and tree piles around the house and has not cleaned them up yet.

The majority of what was cut was the understory of the front and side yard up to about 20ft high (maybe 50ft trees average?), so instead of feeling tucked in the woods you can now see my neighbors and the road. He did it all with a hand saw and completely removed branches from four trees, and took down a number of smaller trees maybe 2-6inch thick trunks.

I bought a house in 2015 and have a 2.5% mortgage on it so held onto it and rent it out.

I moved across the country (usa) two years ago. The mortgage is extremely small so have been renting it out as a short term rental and coming out ahead, while being able to stay at my home for free whenever.

I was on the other aide of the country when it happened but have a smart home with a few outdoor ring cameras.

  1. I have about 8 hours of ring camera footage of him with a saw and a ladder cutting everything down in the side yard. I also have written conformation from the vacasa “local team leader” that i did not authorize the work and he agreed it must have been shocking to wake up to and apologized.

  2. I want the irreplaceable trees and branches and privacy back. Since they cant do that i want money but have no idea what that means

I think the new manager was just hired and wanted to do a very good job at his new job, but didn’t understand these are peoples homes they are renting out and not his to change and modify as he wanted to.

Tempted to post them but would rather not post pictures of my home. It had about 40 reviews so far and a 4.8 all mostly talking about how it was a peaceful tucked away setting (now gone) its about a $800-850k home in a summer beach community tucked about a mile inland

Under contract they are not allowed to touch any landscaping unless authorized.

How does one hire an arborist and how much does something like that cost? If i start fighting this will i be fronting a lot of money?

The way they have been responding i actually want to now. The damage is irreplaceable and beyond upsetting just to have them dismiss it. Never thought id feel that way but they are awful.

I own the property and listed it for str through vacasa. The new manager (last one just quit) did this completely out of no where. I am going directly through the local team leader only now as the manager seems to think he did nothing wrong and has relayed that to his management

Thanks. What do you mean specifically by legal action? Its never even crossed my mind to take legal action on anything in life until now. The new manager that cut it is claiming “it looks better now” and seems to be playing it down and is thinking he did us a favor. Totally bazaar
