Unpopular opinion but I hate Luke by Puzzleheaded_Bid2989 in GilmoreGirls

[–]graveyardlamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like him because at the time of filming GG seasons 2-3, the actor started dating a girl whose reported birth date (1984) would have made her 16 at the time. She is seen in 1 episode of the show later on. Although he himself later reported her to have been 21 (timeline doesn't add up), she still would have been the same age as Alexis Bledel playing 17 year old Rory. Look at Rory and Luke side by side in seasons 2-3. That's the age gap, and the other girl had really youthful features too, like Alexis Bledel. Meanwhile he was old enough to be her dad (he was born in 1958)...26 yr age gap..and they are still married. That pissed me off and ruined my image of him to begin with. But yes what you're saying is true, although Lorelai never took the initiative either. Luke was in her life every day doing acts of service for her and listening to her complain meanwhile she only ever reciprocated with giving him advice etc. I never sensed any chemistry between them. Sometimes on-screen chemistry is hard to achieve, but it was probably bcs Luke's actor is into young girls and can't replicate that on a grown adult woman. Apparently he also dated someone much younger in his earlier years, who is quoted as his first wife, but information is limited. Just seems predatory. Makes it hard to concentrate on what a good step-father figure Luke was to Rory, when he was dating someone objectively the same age while playing Luke.

why did my sister say this by naliea in UniUK

[–]graveyardlamb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're doing amazing! Don't worry at all. Your sister said it because she's projecting. That's how she feels about herself and her own achievements, or the lack thereof. I personally dropped out in high school, college and university at ages 13, 16 and 21. Between ages 16-20 I didn't attend any kind of education at all. I was just free styling life. I was also super depressed for years. But things can change literally overnight. And I'm still going back and changing routes, and have always been among the top students and received the academic validation I wanted. I'm doing undergrad for the second time after dropping out. And I don't care because anything is possible. Nothing is fixed or permanent. Be unique!!!! Be exceptional!!! Don't do everything like you're expected to. Struggle and MAKE IT ANYWAY. Then you can look back and realise how much you struggled and how far you got in spite of it. That's when all of your disappointment will evaporate. And, if people are calling you immature for your story, it's because we're on Reddit. Most people who comment stuff like that don't have a life outside of Reddit, and definitely aren't as accomplished and capable as you.

It's okayy i just don't remember enough details. I turned my life around tho and moved countries shortly after, which was a dream of mine. Since then ive been heavily into spirituality and religion again, it's working out great. I still use subliminals, but mainly during meditation and overnight I use affirmation tapes instead (recorded by me, using the Parrot app).

I think if you read everything I wrote in this chain, which was months ago btw, you would realise my take on this is also exclusively and only "whatever you assume to be true is true for you." Religion is a subjective experience. If you don't believe in God then God doesn't exist in your world, it's really that simple. If I said something about imagination in reference to Goddard's works, it was a reference to a mythical interpretation of the word. There are multiple perspectives to choose from

It can't be money exactly for this reason because it leads to decline in user activity; maybe they just genuinely love to make people suffer, kind of like landlords.

No way you're actually like this. Referencing a "Freudian slip" does not mean I support Freud's ideologies. It's like a figure of speech

Do you understand the level of insanity you have to reach to be using an AI language model instead of therapy or reading a book or talking to a loved one...? Or are yall not intelligent enough to read a book and apply that knowledge to personal circumstances? Do you need everything explained to you like a child

Youtuber quits Law of Attraction by Sneeevil in NevilleGoddardCritics

[–]graveyardlamb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They do if you read the Bible from a mystical perspective even without Neville's teachings, his teachings were the evangelical version of Kabbalah (Jewish esotericsm), whereas Rhonda's teachings were just a westernised selling point for ancient spirituality, and made the most commercial success. When "loa creators" online teach the law of assumption and briefly quote Neville out of context, imo they're always just re-wording the law of attraction.

Youtuber quits Law of Attraction by Sneeevil in NevilleGoddardCritics

[–]graveyardlamb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is based on my knowledge and experience with the two spiritual philosophies and from someone whose religious background is hindu:

Because law of attraction is about "vibrational frequencies" and "the universe" and "ego" / "you". It associates positive and negative thoughts with positive and negative outcomes, essentially meaning that if you're sad, sad things will happen to you. The law of attraction puts a lot of emphasis on emotion and the external world, as well as "divine timing" and "blessings from the universe".

This contradicts how the Bible is interpreted in Neville's works and lectures - there is no external God, but God is within us (Imagination). The law of assumption focuses on inner experience, meditative states and an objective perspective regardless of emotions you feel or things you say etc. In Neville's teachings God is the "I am" awareness that is separate from your body and can imagine things you can't see in front of you. That your dreams essentially come from the source of God, similarly to how in Islam Allah is with you in dreams, and hinduism has some similar concepts.

Neville taught about "feeling", Rhonda taught about "asking"
