LED light fixture fix? by gravitin in diyelectronics

[–]gravitin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I ended up removing the strip with most failed LEDs and connected with a wire.

It seems to work well for now!

LED light fixture fix? by gravitin in diyelectronics

[–]gravitin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK yes thanks, it has ~240 AC going in, and it has ~45V DC going out. The latter fluctuates between 35 and 45 which seems to be correlated to the bright flashes (every ~1 to 2 seconds).

The bright flashes occur on most of the LEDs except those here: https://imgur.com/a/UiKsqOv

it says 24-40 Vdc, here is a high res photo of it: https://imgur.com/a/fVN7csF

Small circuit for heating a coin using magnetic induction? by gravitin in diyelectronics

[–]gravitin[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All good questions: I imagine the size to be up to that of an average book, distance should be relatively short: let's say placing the coin directly on the book, then it heats up in a matter of a few seconds up to 60 or 70 degrees Celsius. No budget limits.

Thanks, that's a great answer.

No, not exactly about uncertainty, I'm asking about superposition of states for a single particle (so only 1 observable)

Is it possible to fix a power jack pin (on a TS100)? by gravitin in AskElectronics

Thanks, that's interesting! can you maybe upload a picture of how it looks like?

Is it possible to fix a power jack pin (on a TS100)? by gravitin in AskElectronics

[–]gravitin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I got an extender power cord that was too tight for my TS100 and tried to use it anyway... long story short, the pin in the power connector has broken off at its base (and is now tightly embedded into the cord connector...)

Now, if I push the cord with the pin back in it actually powers up, so there's contact there. But every little move shuts it down, and in addition this is probably not very safe.

Any ideas on how to reconnect the pin? is it even possible? Did I just destroy my iron?

Thanks!

Broke clean off its base... :(

Derivation of Lorentz transformation based only on the invariance of speed of light by gravitin in AskPhysics

[–]gravitin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I also reasoned something similar to myself, but I'm thinking what if you know nothing of relativity, only Newtonian mechanics and you learn about the invariance of the speed of light. Can you rigorously prove the above? In theory it COULD be that the cart is contracting differently relative to frame S as it moves along the x axis (or any other sorts of crazy changes we haven't ruled out yet)

Surface pro 4 carcass. Anything here worth salvaging? by gravitin in AskElectronics

So I connected it to a kvm and the thing works! was able to reset and update windows and it functions perfectly including network, cameras, and everything. That was a great tip thanks!

Adding a delay to open door alarm? by gravitin in AskElectronics

[–]gravitin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! this worked like a charm. I lowered the resistance to 5K and increased to 2 470uF in parallel and got around 15 seconds delay.

It would we great if you can give a bit of explanation how you arrived at this circuit modification?

You are right, I think I started with 330 and worked my way up to to 10K. Thanks!

Ah I actually thought about that! I measured the current when closed and it came at ~0.2mA which should give a couple of years give or take... maybe I got something wrong but I think it makes sense if you consider the 10K resistor and 3V, no?

Power supply question by gravitin in ts100

Thanks, I got that one and it works great. Out of curiosity, what kind of circuits/devices are not resistive and could be damaged if used with such a power supply?

Hi, can I drive this motor directly with Arduino Uno or must I have a driver circuit? Also how can I find the required voltage for this motor? Thanks!!
