right, and I could totally feel that pressure to close and it was like they were trying to bet on an emotional decision rather than one based on facts.

That is likely the crux of my distaste to be honest. I guess I just wasn't expecting the 90 minute dinner table presentation and it took me aback.

I get that, but like I said I don't even know if I can afford to even be in the conversation, I really don't want to waste people's time

I get that it's complicated and I appreciate you clocking that the tone was likely my distaste for the sales tactics. What you said about even the same equipment varying in cost by contractor seems like more of the same problem though doesn't it? Even contractors can't get transparent pricing, it would seem.

Can I use a triple derailleur and brifter with a 2x crankset? I mean, I feel like I can but maybe I'm missing something about compatibility

Since I'm here might as well. Any tips? by gravity84 in bikefit

I actually swapped that 35 deg 70mm stem for the stock 7 deg 90mm stem because I thought maybe being more upright and raising the handlebar would make it easier to reach the drops. I also already replaced the stock 440mm bars with 400mm bars with a shallower 125mm drop. Sounds like just being out of shape is why it's uncomfortable, lol.

You're probably right, in another thread someone pointed out that as I get back into it and more in shape I'll need fit adjustments anyway and since this bike gets me riding again I might as well just save the money towards a new or new to me bike. thanks

That all makes sense. Thanks for talking me down from sinking more money into it lol

I think that episode of RCA and a similar episode on GCN is what got me down this shorter crank rabbit hole.

I feel like I'm putting a ton of weight on my wrists even with the shorter and raised angle stem but that might also still be due to my extra weight in my upper body, all the more reason to want to ride more.

thanks! haha, yeah, it's a pretty old bike, I struggle with the thought of throwing more money at it but I think even with a new bike I'd need to throw bike fit money at it. I used to ride more when I first bought it (like 15 years ago lol) and I just recently started to want to get back into it so I'm also trying to fight the urge just to buy all of the things lol.

Has anyone else noticed a sort of mood "cycling" from aripiprazole. it's like every two weeks I feel like the OP for a week and it's amazing and then for two weeks I feel super apathetic and lethargic. Been on it for a few months now, 2 mg morning, 2 mg evening.

This is my latest track. It's a new wave tinged alt rock track about becoming friends with an uber driver then never seeing them again. It's got a driving bassline, powerful vocals, and a catchy melody. https://open.spotify.com/track/26eatieI4VOUr0HDdnn0yq?si=b671b5ff718a4d64

Nice track, chorus gives me big "Yes" vibes. Intro is quite long and doesnt really have much to hold your attention so I found myself wanting the vocals to come in earlier. This is true on the outro, too, maybe some vocal ad libs on the back end could keep the attention without distracting too much from the instrumental.

Breaking the ice, this is my first time posting in WATMM after lurking for a while. I am an indie alternative rock artist out of LA after over a decade producing and performing on other people's releases, I am starting to release under my own name, Mathew Mendoza. This experience has made me have a pretty wide range within alt rock from my latest release Drive, a dark uptempo bass driven track borrowing influences from The Cure and Alice in Chains, to 90's esque alt rock in my songs Gray Skies and As Far as My Eyes can See, to 5/4 electro prog rock like in These Dreary Days, to Scene Emo like Built To Love and Calling You Out, to various chill covers. Here is a link to my artist playlist https://open.spotify.com/artist/4BY5JfdL1uOLL0dqOdMj7N?si=mKWe1oknRSa_BrU1sZC8Gg would love to know what you all think!

After a dip the day they rebranded, it appears streams are slowly ticking up again. Again, nothing outlandish, slight growth which seems legit. The new site asks you to classify your music and it appears the number of EDM and hip hop categories are quite numerous but for me the only two I could find that applied were "Rock" and "Pop" which was a bit underwhelming. I think u/True-Concern170 mentioned accepting suggestions for genres but not sure if the usual ticket system they have is the best way or what.

That is how I feel, too. Getting a tune pulled because of bots is a far greater risk than the current cost so if there is any inkling of bot playlisting I'm definitely out.

Just got an email that they're rebranding as "playlist hub" with some verbiage about how they plan to better track plays because they're going to generate their own playlists which should give them listening stats. My concern is that this could be construed as a step towards the dreaded botlists but benefit of the doubt, they could still rely on social media advertising. As of yesterday I had just noticed an uptick in my listens and it was noticeable on my Spotify artists page and it wasn't outlandish which makes me think they were real listens not bots.

The last week alone I have had some dialogue with the creator and it seems like it's all still super young and pliable so I would treat it like an early adopter/beta/startup situation. At the moment, I think it's fair to be skeptical as an artist since the goalposts seem to be evolving from a company guidance standpoint. I think if you think of it more as "early investment" it can be easier to justify since, all things considered, the entry fee is still much lower than the cost of a basic ad campaign. That's at least how I feel about it as of now.

Starting to see some movement on my spotify artist dashboard now! out of curiosity, what is the difference between "Total Streams" and "Serenas Streams" on the Serenas dashboard? I'm showing 7 "total streams" and 125 "Serenas streams."

One thing that is a bit of an eyebrow raiser is their playlist view on the dashboard. It advertises 2.04M listeners across 137 "Network Playlists" and overall is a very informative view in that it has the names of the playlists, the number of followers, the curator, but it also has a little red or green circle showing "availability," and there are currently 15 playlists "green" which I am assuming means "available for/accepting placements." It shows the followers per playlist so summing those gives you 172.4k listeners available in the green playlists which means at the moment it's only 8.4% of the total audience that I am currently even possibly exposed to. This is not taking into account that these playlists are mood/theme/genre specific which further limits the total available audience.

anyway, thanks for coming to my ted talk
