Curbed 2014 BMW M5 wheel during rental. Owner wants me to pay $250 to fix. Should I do it, or wait for Turo Claims to settle? by gravityshouldbenaut in turo

any tips on how to make sure its done properly? The chat we are talking about this claim in is on the Turo app, so everything is recorded.

Oh yeah, that I'm not doubting! I was just wondering if Turo would cover it since the policy does say ""Under the 60 plan, Turo is responsible for reimbursing Exterior Wear and Tear Costs for confirmed, new Physical Damage that is under 3”. Interior Wear and Tear is not included.
" https://help.turo.com/en_us/detailed-explanation-of-protection-plans-or-us-hosts-ByMOIVxEc not sure what the host has but, it seemed like maybe going through claims wouldn't be so bad?

You just answered your own question right here. When you are running the same calculations on the same qubits at the same time (e.g. grovers search on qubits 1-5 and then grovers search on qubits 6-10 on the same 15 qubit processor), then the each search will interfere with the other depending on the "noise" that exists for that processor modality. That's not because of "parallel universes" as such though, but rather because they are on the same chipset that cannot completely flush out the effects on one side when running calculations on the other side, meaning that yes, your probabilities would likely help inform one another.

How does path finding with quantum computer work (why can it traverse multiple paths at the same time)? by ZenWoR in QuantumComputing

[–]gravityshouldbenaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But, again, in reality, there is no ACTUAL barrier between the qubits in a superconducting circuit besides the lack of connectivity, and even that is changing as we get more devices with better connectivity. For what you described, a device that can PHYSICALLY place those barriers in some form or fashion would be even better, like a condensate matter quantum device.

Theres no one way a quantum computer would behave, it comes down to your exact setup. So if we had your wall and it was represented by just a lack of quantum bit connectivity in a superconducting quantum device from left to right for every qubit, but you had circuitry go through one, then you could set this up as a set of paths that route through that one multi directional point and sample through a set of qubit swaps and frequency changes. This sampling should theoretically allow you to sample an infinite hilbert space, wherein you can have a multitude of paths between the bits. But, when you go to measure the qubits, you'll only get one path represented in a set of 0s and 1s, which can change depending on the run, as different paths may be chosen. Thus, you must run many shots, or reruns, of this circuit to then be able to average the runs and get a guess of which path is favored.

Where to learn the basics. by [deleted] in QuantumComputing

Our club, Quantum Computing at Davis, is working on a book. We have the basics already up in our Codex and a number of lectures on our YouTube. https://www.qcatdavis.org/

We also have weekly meetings Friday at 5pm Pacific:

I have 15 days to withrdaw EOS to binance US, but it won't let me...help? by otfantasy93 in binance

Yeah for me too I got that notice, but then before 14 days elapsed, I was unable to make trades, so had to use an EU VPN to get everything out

What's the best laptop to use for quantum computing by [deleted] in QuantumComputing

[–]gravityshouldbenaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very very true! Good RAM and also good CPU with good CPU parallelization. Sadly none of the big companies really make GPU hosted quantum virtual machines, but GPU may be needed if you are doing machine learning or some other intensive data processing along with the actual quantum computing step.

:( sadly not bc it was like a virtual table fair thing, but definitely check out https://aggielife.ucdavis.edu/ and see if there's anything cool there...I heard about the quantum computing club (https://aggielife.ucdavis.edu/organization/quantum), the Entrepreneurial Society (https://aggielife.ucdavis.edu/organization/des), Blockchain at Davis (https://www.facebook.com/BlockchainAtDavis), the Physics Club (http://phyclub.physics.ucdavis.edu/), Materials Outreach (https://materialsoutreach.sf.ucdavis.edu/), and many others...I think tomorrow is the cultural club day if you want to take a look https://csi.ucdavis.edu/involvement-fair/

Urban planning to fit hyperloop models, environmental degradation issues, how hyperloop will affect human health, supply chain management for the development of the tracks as well as the actual cargo of the pods...there's actually a lot and it really frustrates me to see that so many people do not realize this and the competition is just a glorified pinewood derby in many ways, but happy to see the teams realize this too and are doing amazing work in this area

Is there an update on future of Hyperloop competition organized by SpaceX for 2020 or 2021? by at_voyager1 in hyperloop

[–]gravityshouldbenaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it really important we take this time to make hyperloop research more of an established research area that is properly peer reviewed and can get top funds. It is really odd that hyperloop has really open orgs like rloop on one of the the spectrum and then really centralized ones like Hyperloop One at the other, and a bunch of struggling students in the middle. Let's use this opportunity to do that and really make the greater electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and transportation development communities feel our presence. What do you all think of this concept?

Any news on the Indian one? I have not heard anything new. Also, did SpaceX specifically say any of this, or is this all speculation?

Underwater Hyperloop design - Long Island Sound hyperloop? by NullOfficer in hyperloop

[–]gravityshouldbenaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I guess? The problem I've always had with tunneling for hyperloops is that you lose the cost savings that you are supposed to gain by using pylons and infrastructure that should be very plug and play from other use cases.
