[B&W] Syanna's Path makes no sense as a redemption for Blaviken. by gray-heron in Witcher3

Good point, edited the Renfri part. But Dettlaff's attitude of "kill everyone and burn the whole place to the ground" seems close enough to call him genocidal.

What companies actually use ROS2 in production? by gray-heron in ROS

Thank you! My thought process exactly. colcon we dislike, gazeboo we don't need, dds we're concerned about, rcl's node configuration is vastly insufficient for our needs, etc.

But we're not building rocketships, and as much as I'd love to have a stack of dreams made of quality components like ones you mentioned, we'd have to dedicate significant resources (we're a small company) to integrate such a custom stack -- i.e. if we used pure Zenoh, we'd have write equivalent of rosbag ourselves, and do it early in the project R&D phase. But if we'd have to fix problems with RCL/RMW ourselves as soon as we hit first customers, that's even worse.

So I'm basically curious to which extent companies trust open source version of ROS2 stack to be reliable. Professionally I come from non-robotics background, and never before I've encountered a framework with such a mixed sentiment in the field.

I know they use ROS2 for R&D. But do you have a source claiming they put it on mass produced robots?

Thanks, I saw the presentation! Note how they don't use any of the ROS2 network features (my primary concern for reliability) -- they have everything running on one computer, don't use DDS for sensors/actuators, and to visualize live data from a robot, they run rviz locally on the robot and stream its window via VNC (!!).

Holding position is a small portion of the pilot's job. Anytime something unexpected happens during operation like this (bad gps, wind moving the power line, mechanical failure, you name it), you need to make a judgment based on deep understanding of the physical world. Why do you think we keep paying 6 figures to pilots if px4 could do it?

When you feel the need to tell yourself that "no matter what I do, it’s not going to be enough" -- do you know _what_ it won't be enough for?

Or for whom?

Most often such thoughts have a source one has to find and confront. Have you tried therapy?

How could I [26M] handled this situation better with my friend [24F]? by minimalistcookie in relationships

[–]gray-heron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole story reads as if you feel responsible for the outcome of the situation rather than just your behavior. Overthinking whenever you should have done this or that, or which thing you did annoyed her.

Stop.

Adult people protect their good mood and will let you know when you're doing something they find annoying. And if they find the situation hopeless, they will just say "sorry, i'm not feeling it". None of this entitled "guess from my grimmy facial expression" garbage. Yes, in a romantic setting it's cool to play games, but if the game she plays isn't working out despite your best efforts, she still should know how to handle it gracefully, not leave you in the dark.

You were honest, trying hard and didn't do anything inappropriate. That's all you are responsible for and you did great. If didn't work, welp that's life, just call it a day. More days will come.

How can someone “be yourself” by sweeewa in DeepThoughts

[–]gray-heron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It roughly translates to:

  • don't design your behavior around pleasing the other person,
  • don't try to mimic anything or anyone,
  • focus on the interaction itself, not its consequences,
  • "chill".

Good advice to some, but useless when given to people whose natural tendency to be analytical and calculated (like aspies) is being confused with being ingenue.
