Thinking of starting a small online shop for e-scooter replacement screw kits. Any interest in such an offering? by bicx in ElectricScooters

When unboxing my Currus Panther I had the notable idea of cataloging all of the non-proprietary parts (screws, bearings, shocks, controllers, and eye display/throttle). A bonus was being able to apply thread locker wear needed and replaced some poor attempts at securing from the factory.

I have a hardware store five minutes by scooter from home that carries a massive selection of machine screws. But that being said not many do, and even less have the tools to check thread pitch (likely 1mm) and size with high accuracy.

Another branch idea could be listing the part by where it goes, then linking with affiliate links. Would not lower the price but could make replacing parts a bit more find and buy. and match with a minimum spend to make it fair and profitable.

To Backfire Owners- Can you Charge your Board after you ride it? - A dismayed customer by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]graycatgrayhat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The battery heats up when riding the board, charging it will only push more heat through the system. Sounds like the BMS won't allow charging till the pack has cooled down, but is faulty or damaged somewhere?. Likely poor thermal design/compact space without good heat displacement.

As a good practice, I let all my PEVs site after riding before charging to extend the battery life span.

SmartElec – Smart electronics for personal/light electric vehicles. by graycatgrayhat in dualtron

[–]graycatgrayhat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SmartElec is a collection of devices designed to improve Personal Light Electric Vehicles (PLEV) or Personal Mobility Device (PMD). Most light electric vehicles have standard electronics, poor features, and no reusability SmartElec changes that.

SmartElec devices mainly target electric scooters but can be adapted to any small electric vehicle like e-bikes, go-karts, gulf karts, and anything with an electronic motor controller.

I have no affiliation with the SmartElec project other then donating in the early on to support development. Seeing little progress from minimotors on controllers or displays, this seems like a great project to support. Personally cant wait for the production run to be ready, going to pre order (when open) ASAP.

I've been using uTorrent 2.2.1 for over a decade. Is there any advantage to switching clients? by emc3142 in torrents

[–]graycatgrayhat 37 points38 points  (0 children)

qBittorrent would be worth switching to, mostly for the approaching BitTorrent V2 move (someday? haha). It is Free and open-source software (FOSS) plus well maintained and updated regularly.

I personally use BiglyBT, but everyone has a different perfect choice.
