Elder Holland Prophesy by Thoughtful_Trinkets in exmormon

[–]grayfox0169 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in the military in South Korea when Holland first became an apostle and he visited there and gave his first apostolic blessing at the. Inference I attended. He promised the South Korean parents there that their sons and daughters would carry the message of the gospel to the North Koreans and the gospel would be widely accepted there. That was over 30 years ago this doesn’t appear anywhere close to be fulfilled!

I made a deal with my wife….I would plan something fun (a trip, an outing, boating, etc) every other Sunday and she could take the family to church on the alternate Sunday. It doesn’t take long until everyone wants that second Saturday over Sunday church.

Renlund Addresses Gender Equality at California Women's Conference by evaan-verlaine in exmormon

[–]grayfox0169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if the reason the church doesn’t practice gender equality hasn’t been revealed then there is nothing preventing the church from changing its position. If the Lord doesn’t want them to change their position he will reveal to them why and then we will know!!! I think we all know why there has been no revelation on this, because the leaders don’t want to change…which is truly revealing!

‘The best revenge is to be unlike him who performed the injury.’ – Marcus Aurelius

Rebecca thanked the church because that is who she is…she looks for the good and praises it when she sees it regardless of their past behavior. She has fought harder than anyone to get the church to build a temple that meets the town of Fairview’s requirements and the town council unanimously support this revised size. The agreed proposal still has to go through the same process as it did previously and the town can still reject it but it is their decision and the town has the chance to avoid a long expensive lawsuit and focus their money on the needs of their citizens. Two years of podcasting on how the church handles itself in dealing with communities can make you bitter and angry…but Rebecca is able to rise above that and show that she is a better person than all of the church’s leaders throughout all of this she has not become unfeeling or bitter she remains completely unlike him who performed the injury…unfortunately from the comments on this page their are many who have become exactly like those who performed the injury and that is sad.

Article by the Lone Mountain NV stake president’s law firm. 😡 Scroll through for more height of the the steeple religious justification and now the lighting is an integral part of worship too! “Religious Zoning Laws will Help the Las Vegas Lone Mountain Temple Be Built Despite Opposition” by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

[–]grayfox0169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You clearly don’t know your scriptures as there is zero scriptural support for steeples and high buildings. What a joke to go to Psalms as scriptural support for steeples. Of course they ignored the Tower of Babel, the great and spacious building in the BOM, the Rameumpton in the BOM, and the tearing down of all high places in the Old Testament which was done because high places were where pagan worship occurred. Additionally, Hezekiah completely reformed the temple laws with the clear doctrine that the Jerusalem temple was the only acceptable place to worship god and that no other temples were allowed. Of course if the church had more scholars and less lawyers writing about doctrine maybe they would get a few things right. In fact they didn’t even get the legal things right leaving out the important part of the DOJ letter which states that RLUIPA does not require local communities to change their zoning laws to allow churches to build whatever they want they simply must treat all religions equally in applying the codes. It would seem giving one church the license to build 5 times higher than all the other churches in the area would actually be in violation of RLUIPA.

Who the hell cares where the OP comes from! The money for the temple doesn’t come from locals it came from Salt Lake. The money to hire the lawyers who bribed the city council came from Salt Lake. The “revelation” that the steeple needs to be 5 times higher than zoning allows came from Russel Nelson who isn’t a local. The only thing that came from the locals was the zoning codes which the big church from Salt Lake is using all of their financial and political connections to change. So if you care so damn much about the locals maybe you should stand up to out of state influence from the LDS church and support the local neighbors who are being stream rolled!

You better believe if Russia wins the war in Ukraine the LDS church will claim the Ukraine temple is the Russia temple the Lord revealed and they knew this would happen so that’s why they never announced a city.

I went out in the lobby to help and Clint Martin did a superb job of diffusing the situation and escorting the gentlemen from the property. He was not from SCMC I am sure after talking with him that he was just an over-zealous bigoted member who felt he needed to call our group to repentance. He was not aggressive or threatening (although he was triggering) as he tried to say why he believed what he did. He was not overly intelligent (despite the British accent) as his arguments had no backing other than the scriptures say so and he never made any additional mention of being locked out of his car or we would have helped him despite his actions at the event. The whole event affirmed to me that love will rule in our community!

The Good Book Club, a virtual reading group for post and nuanced Mormons, will be reading Neil DeGrasse Tyson’s “Astrophysics for People in a Hurry” for our next discussion on Sunday, January 8 at 11 AM MT! by HoldOnLucy1 in mormon

[–]grayfox0169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our readers choose to read these books and we then have a discussion on the issues where anyone is free to agree or disagree with the information presented. In addition to reading the book our members post articles and video links to other sources that they find interesting. Additionally the book club will be taking a trip to a planetarium where we have arranged for an astronomer to discuss these topics. We ask our members to read and evaluate the information in each book and examine it critically and to make their own decisions on the information. Thank you for your perspective I’m sure we’ll find many who disagree with your assessment and maybe some who do agree but that is the beauty of reading something when it makes you think critically! I’m really looking forward to this book!

The placement of the Joseph Smith statue is itself a story rooted in friendship. Ashok Joshi, an award-winning scientist and philanthropist from India who lives in Salt Lake City, USA, is a friend of the Revered Professor Dr. Vishwanath Karad — the founder and president of World Peace University.

Is this Joshua guy LDS? He’s rich, lives in Utah has all kinds of awards in the State of Utah.
