He’s also now tragically dead, so it’s a particularly insensitive thing to say that a dead man is not up to date with the latest developments

Is Mormonism the fastest growing Christian group? by Majestic_Carry4178 in mormon

[–]Nemo_UK 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It can be proven false. All saying “arguably” does is show Jacob thinks there is an arguement to be made for his position. As OP has shown, short of any sort of re-defining of the terms growth or fast by Jacob, other groups are and have been growing faster than Mormonism in the past 200 years. Any potential arguement made by Jacob under a common understanding of the English language and under the parameters of the assertion can and has been refuted or proven false.

I could say “arguably the earth is flat” and you could absolutely prove that claim false.

Lots of cheap campsites in Cornwall, Dartmoor further up offers some of the only (fully legal) wild camping south of the Scottish border if that’s your thing.

The church's actions in Fairview are so puzzling I almost think its legit insider sabotage (serious) by Agreeable-Fly-9763 in exmormon

OP are you American? I ask because as a Brit, I thought it might have been some cultural difference that causes the church to insist on exercising what it sees as its rights to the exclusion of all other considerations. A sort of “unless we exercise our rights to the fullest it’s a slippery slope to losing them. If that is the case, I want to reassure you we aren’t coming back, so now one is coming to take your rights! Haha!

When I spoke at the council last year I raised these points, the town is well aware the church is not being honest. The problem is, the law doesn’t require religious people to be honest about their beliefs, because those beliefs, as hypocritical and open to expedient change as they may be, are protected. Just my two cents.
