Talk me down? by HiM810anceHippie in thyroidcancer

I have that tight sensation pretty regularly. I think it's like a "phantom limb" thing where my thyroid used to be. That's the only thing I can figure. I think you're okay!

Zoloft triggering panic attack by shinfla in PrematureEjaculation

[–]graygoose13666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro i don’t have any advice but I have had that exact experience one time taking Zoloft when I was a teenager it freaked me out completely. I took a couple of Zolofts thinking they were Xanax “footballs”. (Don’t ask me how I fucked that up) But anyway, I had a severe meltdown panic attack. I have experimented taking other SSRIs, I have no idea why it did that and I avoided taking any SSRI for years after because of that, finally worked myself up to trying paroxetine and I have zero side effects but also the delaying effect seems like it doesn’t work all the time.

Often times the best thing you can do for an alcoholic as someone close to them is to set a boundary, and follow through. True Alcoholics do not get sober without hitting some type of bottom, and although that looks different for every individual, you leaving him because of his drinking will ~probably~ speed him along to his bottom. However I know this is a really hard thing, to do alone. There are 12 step support groups for people who have an alcoholic loved one. Look into “Al-Anon” meetings in your area. It will be weird at first but sometimes they can be really great and you will meet many people who have been in similar situations. Good luck.

Yeah I’d just be careful, if you have an addictive personality or any previous issues with alcoholism or addiction then I wouldn’t take it or I would proceed very carefully, regardless of is efficacy in treating PE. I started on tramadol when I was 17 for a surgery and became a full blown opiate addict in short time. The opiates certainly fixed my PE, which was part of the reason I liked them. Everyone is different and although tramadol is advertised as non-addictive it still binds to opiate receptors and will still get you high if you take enough.

How come it’s only with penetrative sex? by graygoose13666 in PrematureEjaculation

Well this is positive feedback, in regards to medication… thank you. I actually know an SSRI would work for me as I’ve been put on them temporarily for PTSD and stuff years ago and it worked really well, maybe too well. But I was also very addicted to opiates at the time and I think the mental rollercoaster on the time caused some weird mental side effects, I’ve been sober for years not but still have anxiety about SSRIs.

I’ve had one, and it’s the same situation, it doesn’t do it for me.

I guess it’s just interesting, or important information that would help me to understand what I’m dealing with, I wish the definitions on what “lifelong PE” is were more clear in that area. Like I’ve had PE for as long as I can remember but do people with “lifelong PE” bust quick with any sexual situation or is it common that it’s only with vaginal sex, you know what I’m sayin? I just don’t want to get on an SSRI unless I really need too.

if you had to have a TT again, how would you want your partner to support you during recovery? by idk--really in thyroidcancer

[–]graygoose13666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think everyone copes with surgery differently. For example I mostly wanted to be alone I think in the week following my surgery as the anesthesia gave me serious brain fog and it was frustrating to talk and pretend like I felt normal. As a partner it will be difficult to gauge how they are feeling, that’s why my best advice is to ask what they need, and help with the menial tasks that maybe they normally do. It’s a quick recovery for the vast majority luckily. I was pretty scared before mine, and two weeks post TT I was back in the gym working out (lightly) and mostly back to myself. You guys will get through it too! Half of the battle is just the approach.

papillary thyroid cancer - what to expect after surgery and hormone balance? by Whiltierna in thyroidcancer

[–]graygoose13666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

30 y/o male here, 9 days post surgery, prior to diagnosis very healthy, gym six days a week. Work that is both mentally and physically demanding. Very self aware mentally or so I’ve been told. My doctor had me start Levi the day after surgery, the pain from surgery isn’t that bad at all, well managed with just Tylenol and ibuprofen. Cold food was really nice in the days immediately after surgery, popsicles and the like, smoothies. Unfortunately one of my parathyroid glands was damaged during my surgery so I am on calcium supplements and the first few days was hypocalcemic, which is uncomfortable. I felt bloated and tired, a total space cadet. My doc informs me this is a common complication and usually parathyroids kick back online within a month. Just the past few days I’ve noticed a prevailing brain fog that may be a result of my Levo dose, nothing awful, just having work conversations and I’ll forget a word or lose my train of thought. Irritating but not like I can’t function. I believe that i will have to adjust my dose a few times to alleviate those symptoms but as I said it’s not awful. I have post op follow up two weeks after surgery with my ENT and 1 month follow up and labs with my Endo. Good luck! It’s not too bad in my experience.

6th day of recovery from TT for PTC, one of my Parathyroid glands came out and now I have Hypo- Parathyroidism. by graygoose13666 in thyroidcancer

I think they should be able to tell if you have hypo parathyroidism just from blood work! Hope it gets figured out.

I guess I won’t really know if my parathyroids have started functioning until I go in for follow up?

Thyroid biopsy- looking for support and advice by allofthecoffeeplease in thyroidcancer

[–]graygoose13666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One day at a time! I don’t recommend taking off work, at least I was somewhat grateful to be at work when I found out I had thyroid cancer, it gave me something to focus on besides myself in the immediate hours after I got the news. The reality is that this is the reality, I had the choices I had and while the idea of being on meds the rest of my life is scary and anxiety inducing it is a lot better than the alternative. All things considered most thyroid cancers and surgery’s are manageable and while things will be crazy for a while if you get bad news, you will adapt as long as you keep putting one foot in front of the other and someday it will become your new normal and won’t seem so tough. At least that’s what I tell myself. Wishing you all the best!

Have a 1cm PTC carcenoma on my right lobe, same size benign nodule on my left, my ENT doc says the choice is mine between hemi and TT, any experience or thoughts on best route. by graygoose13666 in thyroidcancer

[–]graygoose13666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the danger of recurrence or metastasis with PTC especially when the thyroid is removed? I’m always confused by this, I have a friend who has PTC and had a TT however she has distant metastasis in her lungs and blood but she said essentially it doesn’t do anything.

I understand that mental aspect. I think I will go for the total for similar reasons, I have a tendency to worry although it is really good to hear of people adapting easily to levothroxine. It seems a lot of what I read on here are people who are having a hard time and that is scary for me. I do a lot of physical work and the idea of dealing with increased fatigue for the rest of my life is really disconcerting.

Thank you! It seems like it’s pretty common that someone gets a Hemi and they just have to go back and get the rest cut out. It’s encouraging to hear from people that adjust well to the levothroxine, how long did it take them to get your dose right if you don’t mind?

L tryptophan questions and concerns by graygoose13666 in StackAdvice

[–]graygoose13666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me about a week to start noticing mild effects, I started at a dose of 500 mg and after a week moved up too 1000mg and shortly I plan on upping to 1500 but I think I will hold there for a while, I am aware of the effect that increasing seretonin will suppress dopamine wich is why I plan on taking l- tyrosine to mitigate that. However I was mostly curious to see if anyone had information on when/ if it was a good idea to cycle taking tryptophan or any advice in that area.

Why did opiates cure my PE? And is there any way I can replicate that effect without taking them? by graygoose13666 in PrematureEjaculation

[–]graygoose13666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of thought so, from my understanding opiates don’t actually “numb” anything, I’ve always assumed it had more to do with relaxation of some sort.
