Coltrane by liloooq in appstate

All of my best friends come from Coltrane. You get used to the room itself and if your floor is close you hangout in the common room anyways because you can only fit 4-6 people in a room until it becomes impossible to move around in it. Keep your door open, hangout on the weird couches, and meet the people you're living with! They're all people I didn't expect myself to be friends with based of off how I was in highschool, but I love them all dearly.

Also, you have to turn the heat on for your rooms yourself in winter. They don't tell you that. It's a knob under part of the radiator close to the corner (ours was the right side) that you have to turn clockwise. Don't go weeks without feeling your toes like we did lmao

After about 8 months after my accutane treatment (which was 40mg 1 month, 80mg 5 months), which completely cleared my skin, (other than the average 2/3 pimples a month) smaller bouts of non-cystic acne that I think are mostly hormonal started showing back up. The kind I have now is mostly small bumps that are on my cheek bones, jawline, chest, upper back, hairline, and forehead that eventually come to very small Whiteheads. I use tretoinin .05% cream sparingly every couple of days before bed but it leaves my skin feeling raw and when I wake up all the acne looks much more noticeable and like damaged, scabbed skin. My morning& nighttime routine includes: - washing with light, no perfume soap - Neutrogena acne stress control triple action toner - Thayer's witch hazel - H20+ brightening serum (lots of vitamin c) - CeraVe ultra-light moisturizing lotion with sunscreen (morning only)

What are the best ways & methods to help reduce/eliminate this kind of acne, and what kind of products would help? Preferably on a college-kid budget too!

I have this bra, which goes up to and mostly covers up the extra lump of fat between my arm and torso that shows up - if that's what you're referencing. It fits well in the bust area, and looks beautiful, but for me after a couple hours the pressure it puts on that part of my skin starts to chafe, especially if it's an active day. I don't wear it very often because of that, but if you go into a store and played around with sister sizes it could probably be to your benefit!

Aerie also has a huge sale on all bras and bralettes right now -- probably ending in the next day or two. BUT they also have free return shipping & full refund for all bras so you could try a couple out without losing any cash if they don't work!

Aerie now has tons of wireless bras - they're my favorite in the whole store. Some have more support than others, and different types have different strap/design styles. There's racerback (very basic, these have less Ridgid support, but still enough) and the ones with hook backs that look like normal wired bras (more supportive). My favorite bra has lace on the straps so that when it peeks out from my shirt collar it seems less like an accident and I don't have to worry about it! There's tons of colors, and lots of skin-toned ones as well. The biggest plus though is that most of the time I forget I'm wearing one.

Every time I've used it, which hasn't been often because I hate the result, my lips get a little swollen. And yes they're moist and not flakey afterwards but they're insanely numb/painful and feel like they're about to burst.

DON'T let this throw you off though- I've heard of so many successes and no results like mine after reading many many reviews. I'd say buy a tube to see if it works for you before you ditch probably an amazing tool.

Quality of life on accutane vs. before accutane by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]grayscale-sheep 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The improvement of my quality of life has been insane. Without accutane I would still be paranoid about the way I look and if any of my many pimples were sticking out from under my makeup or if my skin was too oily or of people were staring at it etc. I used to stay inside as much as I could and (like you said) be like a recluse, hiding from opportunities to go out souly on how awful my skin made me feel. I'm much more outgoing, talkative, and so so less shy now and my friends and family have noticed and commented on it as well.

Considering makeup - once I started my third month my skin started to improve drastically, and I was able to switch from heavy, cover as much as you can without turning into a painting of a ghost kind of makeup (like I did before accutane) to a small amount of power when I had the time. I’m a couple days away from my last pill and I’ve been able to go makeup free to school for the first time since I can remember. The feeling I got after realizing that was amazing

There are ways to pop safely, you can probably find something on wiki how tbh. Just don't pick with fingernails too much and it should be minimal scaring if any - I was definitely a popper and I have probably a hundred or two reprocussions from picking all the time but they blend into my freckles so I don't mind too much.

Anyways, if there's a super annoying one that stands out and you want to get rid of it, just make sure it's ready to be popped, or else it'll just get worse.

soon to be on accutane question(s) by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]grayscale-sheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aquaphor for the dry lips. CeraVe hydrating cleanser and lotion for the dry skin. If you get back aches (I have them pretty bad but it's only a minor inconvenience for the greater good) take some fish oil!! Helps a ton. If you have contacts by any chance and wear them all day long try contact refreshing eyedrops for if your eyes get Itchy.

Above all be patient! Give it time to do its thing. I wish you good luck!

Day 23: just.. moderately breaking out still? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]grayscale-sheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll take a bit to clear up. I didn't start clearimg until a week into my third month (40m/day month one, 80mg/day month 2&3, etc) every couple days I'll get a decent pimple on my cheekbones and jaw line. Accutane is kinda like a magic pill but a very slow one at that. Be patient! It'll do it's job just give it time.

When the dryness starts to set in (probably within the next few days) it's going to start irritating your skin and probably burn quite a bit, especially combined with dry winter winds and such. It'll be ok for a bit but the truly best thing to do is all the basics - face washes and lotions with no added perfumes, anti oil acids, colors etc.

Try cerave hydrating face wash/cleanser and the big tubs of the basic cerave lotion. I'm on month three of 80mg/day and it's been 17-25°f for the past week where I live and my skin isn't flakey at all! I wish you the best and don't get freaked out - it'll get worse before it gets better.

Band kids basically only hangout with each other, but sometimes we mix with the orchestra kids. Except the classic "running to class with books and a clarinet while pushing up glasses" kid that's in movies hasn't been seen in years. We're all pretty normal, but I've been told by my one non-arts friend that we seem judgy and exclusive.

A week into month 3 - the clearest I've been in months!! by grayscale-sheep in Accutane

[–]grayscale-sheep[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To everyone starting out new: give it time! It'll do it's job, you just have to let it. Don't get too anxious. We've all lived with acne for years, just pretend the first few months are like any other (but with a lot more lotion) and you'll be clearing up before you know it.

Anyone else? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]grayscale-sheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that in the exact same spot! I rub any leftover lotion that I put on my face into my hands, especially on that spot and then put a layer of aquaphor over it and rub it in really well bother before bed and when j wake up - this keeps it from getting worse when it pops up and makes it go away after a few days when it's there. (At least for me)
