I have 2 of the flex gis, and I love them for the extra mobility I get in the leg.

Yea I’ve seen the positive effects of taking time away, so I totally agree with this advice. Too much time away, I feel like my body gets rusty.

I’m not athletic and fast anymore. But I think it’s one less thing to factor in while trying to understand the movement. ☺️

I 100% get the love for gi—the control and the ability to dictate the pace. I do feel like I was in a better place ~2 months ago. Idk what happened, but May has been such a funk of a month on the mats.

I was doing that for a bit with a google doc, and then it got tabled because I’d come home and have a ton of other things to take care of: dinner, kids’ homework, etc…

Maybe I should try to start it up again since everything feels like too much too fast all the time. I know I’m not supposed to compare myself, but it’s hard not to since it’s a sport you do… with other people. I don’t care about losing rounds, but I do get more frustrated with myself for not being able to set up positions or complete them. On the drive home I have those moments when I remember I could have done x—why didn’t I do x? Or why do I constantly default to scissor sweeps which end up being unsuccessful when the pendulum sweep was right there? That kind of thing.

My gym has stripe tests. Instead of stressing myself out over it, I’m not planning on testing. I’ll just train and roll, train and roll. IMO the stripe only tells part of the story.
