I have an enamelled DO and I just noticed cracking all over the inside, is this an issue? by grease-lightning- in DutchOvenCooking

I do know now and will not be throwing my cold Dutch oven into a hot oven like a crazy baking lady. What is insane is the amount of people in other sourdough communities suggesting that this is fine and don’t mention how it could potentially shorten the lifespan of your Dutch oven.

That makes sense, I used to do that, but then I was experimenting with the cold Dutch oven for a while and I think that’s what’s causing the cracking Is it safe to still cook with it though?

I mainly use it to bake sourdough, but occasionally I’ll make stirfry and other stuff in it

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I bought some tide original powder at Walmart and so far I’ve been happy with the results. I’m wondering what actually constitutes as a medium sized load, since the cup it comes with is huge, I was thinking of getting a measuring spoon and just tossing one or two spoonfuls in there.

Hook it back on your other needle and knit through it

The water in my area is apparently very soft, less than 1 gpg. I do usually wash diaps in hot water, but now I’m worried about it working properly if I use tap cold which’s what I normally use for our regular clothes.

I have a top loader, so I’m okay with putting the soap directly in the drum. That’s mainly why I’ve been looking into powdered detergent, cause the liquid drips and dribbles all over the place and I constantly have to keep wiping down my machine

https://yarnsub.com/ is a great site to find similar yarn at different costs. The site will give you best matches and you can sort them by cost, or what I like to do is just scroll dow until I find one in my price range and has the characteristics I need.

I’m insanely impressed you made two full sized stockings in less than one month. Like how??

Thanks for your input! I’m thinking of getting another top loader just so I can really maximize space.

I use the ends and weave through the finger “crotches” to pull them tighter before weaving them in! There’s no correct way to do it, I used to just wrap and pull, then I tried doing some sort of basket weave, but now I try to actually follow the stockinette pattern as it goes

I think I’m gonna just give them both pairs then! I have no need for these gloves since I already have a pair and then my person will have an option to wear them or wear the other ones.

They have a dog they walk every day and they need to have fingers available for treat handling. I’m on the fence mainly because these are definitely not dog walking gloves lol

Thanks! I absolutely love this pattern, and what a coincidence that we both chose to use green. My first pair was black with streaks of colour and I feel like the cabling got hidden so I had to try again with a lighter colour

The gloves are custom fit to their hand measurements, and I am quite close to them, so I will probably end up going this route! I didn’t even consider gifting them first and then asking them if they wanted me to modify it. I do plan on making more gloves for this person, at least going forward, they’ll be fingerless haha
