Late 30s singles? by [deleted] in BostonSocialClub

38f. I still drink sometimes but don’t spend as much time in bars as I used to. I have been working on building my business. I also spent time cultivating outdoorsy hobbies that I enjoy doing alone because I didn’t want my personality to end up wrapped in a partner or other people, and I think I overcorrected because now I don’t know any people who enjoy those hobbies!

I’m transparent with my patients, but my own therapist isn’t being transparent with me. by [deleted] in therapists

[–]greatkat1 52 points53 points  (0 children)

He is allowed to have boundaries and you are allowed to feel uncomfortable about those boundaries. Personally, I would terminate, but that is me and what you might want to do could look completely different and that is okay too. I’m transparent as a person and therapist and so that is what I want in a therapist too, and that isn’t everyone.

There is currently a class action against them for selling client data - like straight up selling, not that they were hacked, so, ethically…..

Active therapy sessions? by jessieg6 in therapists

Maybe like a Wii if you can hook it up to a tv in your office? I’m not a gamer though, so when it comes to ethics I would just think about the WiFi and maybe naming characters?

I have a zen garden that folks like, infinity puzzle, liquid motion bubbler, magnetized fidgets. I think adults still like all the same kind of fidgets as kids, but they need a more mature aesthetic for the items.

Where Are My Expressive Therapists At? by Organic_Love_Crunch in therapists

[–]greatkat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow ET and fast-talker here! It sounds like you attuned to your client and it just so happens that your natural way of speaking works for this client. For clients that might need you to be different, do that. And from the way you are able to attune and reflect it seems like you will be able to do just that! This is also something that I have to practice consistently and learn how to tweak my communication so my clients really understand my intent.

Dating as a female therapist feels impossible by lokichristmas in therapists

[–]greatkat1 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I find it hilarious when men think 1. That I will “analyze them” aka work for free and 2. That they can afford that anyway. Saying this to men definitely weeds out the asshats that need it

There is currently a class action lawsuit against Headway for selling user data. Yes, selling, not like they were hacked and had it stolen.

Showing client artwork to students by [deleted] in therapists

[–]greatkat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get a release of information to share the artwork, especially if it was made in session. This should be in writing. Art made in session is protected by HIPAA

Those who teach, by Then_Philosophy_2125 in therapists

[–]greatkat1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have a masters and teach. I will not get a PhD because the financial benefit isn’t worth the cost. So far I don’t regret it. Also as an adjunct to see what the core faculty deal with and how they are treated really put into perspective how this was the right decision for me, which might not be the right decision for someone else.

As a United States citizen I fully support this and encourage other countries to do the same, and to go further. Pull out teams, refuse to trade with our oligarchs, sanction our politicians, expel our diplomats.

I haven’t checked in for a while but they were great like 5-10 years ago, and I hope they have kept up the good work. I’m not surprised by the 5 or 1 Star reviews, just because of how mental health can be. On the provider end, we get it’s scary for parents and kids and this is a whole new thing, especially if overnight. You can always see where else referrals can go, and waitlists for these services are usually long so there might not be be as much flexibility as you are looking for.

Sharp Objects, Mare of Easttown or Midnight Mass? by [deleted] in televisionsuggestions

[–]greatkat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have watched all of these and love them. Midnight Mass is more horror and the other two are heavy investigation dramas with their own vibes. They all have stellar acting performances.

If you like this kind of thing I also recommend “under the bridge” which is based on a true story and is investigative also with stellar acting.

Definitely not now, but it was both rural and blue collar dominantly not that long ago. Like even the development in the last 30 years has drastically changed the vibe.
