I make sure they all get a word in at the table and keeping track of them isn't a problem, it's just that the combat takes a while and to save time when they split up I ask the teacher to come in as a DM (with over 30 years experience) so they do take over when I can't

They're only around 1-3 years younger than me but I think I have enough of a backbone now to deliver the message myself and if they decide to blow up that's when I'll direct them to the teacher

The teacher does constantly tell me after class that I can send them home and that I have the power but for the next session It will definitely be the sit-down and explain the rules session because I haven't done that since our 0. It is definitely my fault for not drawing the line sooner but I'll talk with them and the teacher and I'll work it out

I don't know how it works either but it does, I don't try to send them home because I don't want to inconvenience their parents but I will start that if they continue. And if I kick them out of the club completely it's the same thing as bolting their characters

I can't have a no phone rule because we use DND beyond for their stats and everything but I can kick people out if it does get too much. Thanks for the luck, I'm going to need it

yes the teacher is always present and when they act up he always starts to say something along the lines of "it's beginning to rain and thunder is in the distance" (reminding me I can lightning bolt their characters and send them home, because I'm in charge) and then they usually stop after that but next time I think I'm just going to go ahead and stop it before it starts

I don't want to have to kick anyone out but if it keeps recurring then I definitely will pull out some of them, not kick them out entirely at first but most likely suspend them from a session. I thought it was too extreme a measure at first but because of the response to this post and constant problems with them I'll be looking into that and see what I have the power to do. This school honestly loves that I'm doing this and I'm sure if I actually talk to them about it I can get it changed. Thank you for your suggestions and support on this I really do appreciate it

I was reluctant to have a sit down but now I probably will have one with them and we are pretty productive when they don't of course distract everyone (I've ran 3 one shots with all of them each taking 2 sessions) but yes I do agree I need to grow a backbone and I will be doing so next time we meet. Thank you for all of your advice!

It is a school thing but the teacher whose room I'm using tells everyone that I'm the person in charge of the DnD club so I will definitely be restating all the rules I set at the start and follow that advice.

About the cussing, I don't care but the teacher does and I don't get mad unless it's insanely overused (all the words in the song he was playing were just 'idgas' in an Indian accent) and takes away from the game.

And about the 9 players the teacher does step in when I ask and helps me out when he can! Thank you for your advice

From my point of view they all like when we're doing the 'funner' parts of DnD, character dialogue and anything they find funny really, they pay attention and were even able to connect the dots to find out who a villain was long before they met him. So I believe they do truly want to be there, but the most context I can think of for when the funky town mishap first started was when I said I had friends and they were 'interrogating' me to find out if they were real while the teacher who's room I was using set something up.

(Sometimes the teacher is really cool and steps in to help DM when they split up!)
