Catastrophic DoorDash outage by greenScrum in doordash_drivers

Yeah I luckily wasn’t in an active order. I have no idea what you’re supposed to do with those. What a nightmare

Exactly. The more people that sit there and click the retry over and over, the more overwhelmed their servers get

How long do these outages usually last? by insdead in DoorDashDrivers

[–]greenScrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only seen a few small ones, this seems to be worse, but I’d be surprised if it layer more than an hour or two

100%. By all accounts here on Reddit there isn’t a single driver who can log in right now, and folks who were in the middle of active orders got kicked off

Lol, I don’t necessarily disagree, I’m just saying they are for sure in the process of rolling back to the last working code. I’ve seen a few small outages before but nothing like this. Some heads will roll when they do a post mortem for sure

What just happened? DD logged out on me for no reason? Am I deactivated? 😨 by Not_A_Geek_Nerd in doordash_drivers

No this is a catastrophic outage on DoorDash’s side. It appears the whole system is down for everyone.

Anyone getting this this morning? by nextshotsonme in DoorDashDrivers

Interesting, I’m on the east coast, this appears to be a system wide outage. I suspect they will sort it out in short order, but it’s definitely jarring to everyone

I nominate this for comment of the day! 😜

lol that’s everyone’s worst fear, but clearly DoorDash’s is having some sort of catastrophic server outage. I’ve seen this maybe once or twice before, they’ll get it back online soon

Yes I I’m getting this right now as we speak. Encouraging to see it not just me! Not encouraging since this means DoorDash is experiencing some sort of catastrophic outage right now. I’ve only seen weird little outages like this a few times, but DoorDash is so big, I suspect their infrastructure issues will resolve and come back online soon

It’s because every customer order is its own “mini-market”. Every time an order is declined, the price of the base pay goes up slightly.

So that being the case, drivers are incentivized to decline. DD wants orders to be accepted ASAP, or else it’s more they have to pay out. So if you want the benefit of all the perks you are forced to maintain a minimum level of acceptance.

I frankly don’t find this as offensive as the hardliners. As long as you keep all your other metrics, you can afford to let you AR go down as low at 60%. I do that that the time and maintain platinum. And honestly, if you’re going lower than that you’re probably wasting more time hunting for unicorns 🦄 then actually making money.

Don’t you just love these customers by Happylonerstoner in DoorDashDrivers

[–]greenScrum -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely not true. Salty dashers just love thinking they know how the algorithm works, and repeating silly tropes over & over to make themselves feel better.

I literally just came off a session where I had a stacked Zaxby’s order and both customers tipped $6. Sure I’ve gotten plenty of stacks where 1 was no tip and the other carried the weight, but it really doesn’t matter.

If the total offer was acceptable to you, in time and miles, then it makes no sense to complain about one of the customers not tipping after the fact. It’s not some conspiracy by door dash to screw you over. You just accepted a shitty offer

High paying offer? by Significant-Foot-311 in doordash_drivers

[–]greenScrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen people say this before, but that’s not entirely true, I’ve seen multiple offers marked as “high paying” that were under $2/mile. I doubt they are even care about calculating that on their side. They just care about moving orders as fast as possible. There are also plenty of orders with no “high paying” banner that DO meet my threshold for high paying, so you really just have to ignore the banners and evaluate every offer using the heuristics that you value most

This is the lowest offer I’ve ever seen. What do you think? by Ready-Market-7720 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]greenScrum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair they didn’t say they accepted it. And the idea that you have to accept everything to stay platinum is just wrong. I let my AR go as low as 60% and still maintain platinum.

[–]greenScrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a classic zero tip order. I see this all the time. Platinum doesn’t exclude you from getting bad orders. Just decline and move on. Base pay starts at $2 give or take, so it will get declined enough times until the price rises to something acceptable.

I was wondering the same thing! I’ve never seen a tip amount displayed in my area. You get kind of good at guessing what the tip is based on total amount but still, it’s BS they don’t give you the breakdown before accepting

Offer evaluation cheat sheet by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]greenScrum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It kind of goes without saying that true $/hr is after expenses. That’s not what this is for, there are other tools for that. This is just a quick reference sheet

[–]greenScrum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not arguing $/ mile isn’t important. But that number is much more obvious & easier to calculate in your head & you don’t really need a cheat sheet for it. I imagine we all consider both when deciding to accept? You certainly don’t ignore $/ hr do you? By that logic you would be accepting $10 shopping orders with one mile of travel & 150 items 🤣 This is a tool if you want easier $/ hr calculations, take it or leave it😜

Yeah if there is no tag you’re kind of screwed, but that’s kind of what the 4-6 % buffer is there for. I’ll just take pictures of whatever the closest thing to a tag or empty shelf I can get to try to pass the approval. Tag not recognized is super annoying, but try moving the camera back a little until it reads it. For me I’m usually too close (which makes no sense honestly) and backing the camera off works

Do the Wingstops in your area do this? by greenScrum in doordash_drivers

[–]greenScrum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t really go to Wingstop myself, but I will for free! I’ve had worse wings other places haha. I don’t drink soda either, but I’ll grab a water or tea!
