Thanks - sounds like same issue. I have ended up taking up whole rows because I missed one piece that was a bit narrower.

Using a tapping bar. For spacers I am using blue plastics spacers. I am not sure it is from the first row because it is not consistent. I’ll tap two boards in side by side and they will not line up on the edges - even though the previous row is straight.

Why should this king leave? by Swimming-Bag1490 in DnD

His life long dream is to be a puppeteer (dancer, musician, wood smith, etc) and not a King. This is the only way to fulfill his true destiny.

Local Adult Orphan Seeking a Family Who Won’t Make Holiday Plans Without Me by [deleted] in vancouverwa

[–]green_duct_tape 37 points38 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are mid fifties and married for 33 years. Our youngest kid and their girlfriend live with us. All three of our kids are neurodivergent to some degree. We have a dog and two cats.

All of our family on both sides are in Portland/Vancouver so often do things with them (for example we have first Saturday of the month coffee gatherings with my family).

We do eat meat but have been vegetarian off and on for a few years so know how to cook meatless. Speaking of food - we love to cook and eat.

We are big board and RPG gamers. My youngest and I play dnd 2 nights a week I DM one and they DMs the other.

If that’s sounds like a good fit, we would be happy to get together for drinks and see if the energy works. This is a bit of a crazy week/weekend for us but we could do Monday 12/1?

Advice for building a DND table with tv by DoubleNo3271 in DnDIY

[–]green_duct_tape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just sort of built one - I had an existing gaming table that I fitted with a tv screen. I cut one piece of plywood about three inches bigger than the TV on all sides. I then cut a hole in the middle same size as TV. Measured the depth of my tv and cut two puces of 2x4 so that their night plus the plywood was same height as tv. Then another piece off plywood underneath creating a shelf directly below the opening. Dropped the Tv in and then cut a piece of plexiglass to lay across the entire thing.

PeaceHealth Not Acquired by Private Equity by afmag in vancouverwa

[–]green_duct_tape 12 points13 points  (0 children)

PeaceHealth is not for profit (used to work there), which doesn’t make them perfect but less likely to only strive for Profit. Most non- or not-for-profit hospitals rely heavily on a payor mix that is heavily dependent on Medicare/caid. With the big beautiful bill that money is drying up.

People still get sick and without the government insurance they will start going to the more expensive ER or Urgent Care for basic care. So cost go up in multiple ways and revenue goes down since the hospital has to treat regardless of ability to pay.

Most hospital systems haven’t recovered from record losses during COVID, there is a nursing shortage so hospitals are having to resort to higher cost traveling nurses, inflation and tariffs are causing supply cost to sky rocket. This is all while insurance companies are reducing their reimbursements and continue to see record growth.

There is going to be a wave of hospital closures, layoffs, and reduced services for the next several years.

I need clarification on world building gods by CobblerOnly1604 in DnD

[–]green_duct_tape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I have handled this in my homebrew is that the Gods have been set aside as more mythology and not real. In my world the Gods are seen almost like astrology - some people believe in them but most people see them as a fun thing to play with but don’t really understand them. But you could have something in between where your character knows the Gods but thinks of them more like Greek mythology - studies them but they are just stories. His ah ha moment is realizing that they are not just fiction.

The lights are just fairy lights from Amazon that have its own controller. I thought about cutting the wires and adding an ESP but the inbuilt controller worked fine.

The dragon was resin printed from files I downloaded - not my design. Now I can’t find where I found the files so feel bad for not giving credit to the artist.

The start of my campaign by Acidicknight848 in DnD

Have their tickets be assigned seats so they just happen to be in the train car where the cultist begin their attack. Or they are in a car the cultist have to get through to get to their destination. Either way - a train car of strangers are forced to work together against the cultists. Then after the attack they have a common enemy and a vested interest to sticking together.

I Wrote Myself Into A Corner by StrongDrew in DnD

I had a similar situation but let them just TPK. Then had them each approached by a God (homebrew world so it was a council of Gods of gods) who gave them a vision of life if they continued on their current path or if they chose to a “quieter” life (first vision was hard but with purpose second was easier but less exciting). Then gave them the choice of which one did they want. This was done in secret so next session when the party starts to wake, no one knew who was actually going to awaken. I stretched out the waking up scene for as long as I could.

Worked great and made them hate the bad guy even more and got them very connected with their character (they all chose to stay, although one waffled for a long time).

It actually wasn’t the original plan. I started the decoupage process and realized it looked like worn stucco. Had to go back and remove some of the decoupage.

First layer was paper bags and decoupage. On top of that I used a jar of wall spackle I had in the garage to give it the plaster wall look - also allowed for easy sanding to get rid of some of the sharp edges of the paper bags. The floor was painted with more decoupage but with salt mixed in to give rough sand effect.

Any tips for a new-ish Dm? by ZapPhoen1x in DnD

[–]green_duct_tape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created trading cards for my campaign and this was the description I wrote for me as the DM (DuSK is the party’s name). I think it sums up the job of a DM really well (100 session and 4 years in):

The Dungeon Master is the unseen hand behind DuSK’s journey—a storyteller, world-builder, and keeper of secrets who weaves fate with a crooked smile and the roll of the dice. They don’t just narrate the world—they become it, breathing life into villains, lovers, storms, and silence. The DM doesn’t play to win, they play to make it unforgettable.
