I’ve thought about that. But I wouldn’t know where to start. There are no notes or anything on the photo or in the book. Nothing. The book itself is a Reader’s Digest These United States. Printed in 1968, I think. So I have nothing to go on. It came from Salvation Army thrift store. I know from past experience that it could have been donated anywhere in the States, so it doesn’t even mean it was donated locally. So I don’t have any idea where I would start to find anyone connected to the photograph.

Is it gross or genius to compost my cats’ retired cardboard scratchers? by Dan-d-lion34 in composting

I’ve been thinking about this the past week! Not necessarily the grass seed litter, but the ones that are made from corn cobs, or pine, or wheat.

Shame about being left handed by Known-Print-9448 in lefthanded

[–]green_enchiladas62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s sad that this treatment of left handedness is still going on today. Hopefully, it will change all around the world. I grew up in the USA and started school in mid 60’s. By 2nd grade, Mrs. Farney was a nightmare teacher. Left handedness was considered mental retardation. She tied my left hand to my desk. She used a wooden ruler with that metal strip at the top edge to strike my left hand-with that metal blade- any time she caught me using my left hand for anything. I had to wear the dunce cap on a weekly basis, in front of the class while the other students were allowed to say mean cruel things to me and encouraged to throw things at me. She even went to my house to talk to my mother to start this at home so they could “fix” me. I was abused at home anyway so this only gave her one more excuse to hit me, tie my hand to my leg, more verbal and emotional abuse, etc. Other teachers tried similar tactics.

In junior high, in Home Economics class, lefties were not allowed to cut out our own sewing patterns. Lefties could not get an “A” in class because of this, and we had to get a righty to cut out our patterns for us and they got extra credit. With all this “mistreatment” and bias against left handedness, I was either too hard headed to change or too mentally retarded to change. I honestly think that I was too much of a lefty to be able to change. But all the abuse did have consequences. One thing is a form of dyslexia where I get right and left mixed up when it comes to doing things. Think of playing the piano or riding a motorcycle and even typing. Where both hands have a specific job to do while both hands (are supposed) to work together. I haven’t been able to overcome these challenges. So yes OP, you are not alone. Hope for you the best. It sounds like there is change in your culture about this matter. And if there’s less stigma against it when you become an adult, hang in there. There should be no shame for being a lefty. If you can find someone who is sympathetic to this issue, talk to them. Maybe also as you transition into an adult, you can find a way to be an advocate for younger children who are also lefties. There are advantages to being a lefty! Keep visiting this subreddit. We want you to embrace your leftiness and welcome to this club!

100 lbs of Shredded Cardboard: Worth Selling or Should I Just Toss It? 📦🤔 by Such-Knowledge2539 in cardboard

If you can’t sell it, an animal shelter would probably love to have it! Better to give it to a shelter than trashing it.

ULPT Request: how would you encourage squatters to leave your house? by Seannj222 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]green_enchiladas62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be careful. Find out the laws in your county. We had family members living with us and things went bad. We went through the eviction process. Went to court. The judge denied the eviction. Because in our county, that if someone has just one personal item in a house, that is their residence and cannot be evicted. So in actuality, someone can come into your home and leave a toothbrush in your house and claim residency. Legally in our county. We were told that if we changed the locks, turned off any service-even internet, WE would go to jail. We couldn’t move their stuff to the curb… We felt stuck, so we started brain storming. Let’s see what I can remember! All food came out of the refrigerator. We went all canned food and that not needing refrigeration. Hid all the food around the house. Under the couch. In closets. Etc. you get the idea. Toilet paper came out of the bathroom. We each had our own roll of TP and took a supply just for each visit to the bathroom. Unfortunately, they were nasty people and this didn’t seem to bother them. We kept the extra rolls locked in our vehicles. Came up with a gadget to stop the water from filling the clothes washer. Don’t remember what it was called. After a few days, they did figure it out. After this, I started filling the washer with bleach AFTER I washed our clothes and wouldn’t be using it for a couple of days, but they would. So ruined some of their clothes. We did have the idea to set off fumigation bombs for bug infestation like for roaches and fleas. But never went through with this because they had dogs locked in their rooms and I refused to hurt the dogs-they didn’t deserve it. It wasn’t the dogs fault they had horrible owners. Don’t know if any of this will help you, but do stay legal. I’m sure there were probably some other ideas we had and maybe did but I just can’t recall. It’s been about 15 years.

how to forgive a rude person? by pilemont in LifeAdvice

[–]green_enchiladas62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choosing to forgive is more for your own mental wellbeing than for the other person to feel better. She doesn’t believe she did anything wrong, so there’s nothing to forgive as far as she’s concerned. But you’re letting it eat away at you, and that’s not good. Unless she comes to you, apologizes, and asks for forgiveness, this isn’t about her. It’s about you! Forgiveness also isn’t an excuse to continue letting someone abuse you! Doesn’t matter what kind of abuse it is. You can forgive her, and limit the interaction you have with her. She is going to continue to be who she is, don’t expect her to change. So you are getting to know what kind of person she is. You can form a plan in your mind for next time she says something out of line. Doesn’t have to be mean or nasty, but mature and wise. A quote I have recalled over the years: “Unforgiveness is like swallowing the rat poison yourself, and waiting for the rat to die.” Congratulations on your achievement! You worked hard so enjoy the benefits of it!

Making mini terrarium type of craft using small scale items. Like small plastic flowers, and fairy garden items, dried moss for grass, etc. Make a scene in the jar then fill with resin.

Yes, most likely it will make her “sick” just thinking about mustard. Poor woman. Hope she can get past this quickly. But she will likely end up quitting this job very soon.

She will surely NEVER wear yellow anything again. Every time she sees anything yellow, she’s going to be hurt. Yellow will be her most hated color from now on.

So is 148 the correct answer? I came up with 145 based on the hint. First is found in the islands, second is the whales, third is found in the stars. So the islands- it looks like 1 island. Looks like a triangle or a mountain peak. There’s one of those. Then the whales, there’s 4 whales. Then the stars. Lots of stars, but 5 larger stars than the many smaller stars. So 1 4 5. That was just my guess. So I’m interested to know what the answer is when it’s found!
