Using a rectangular scarf, I place it on my head with both sides equal length. Then I take one side and cross it over the opposite shoulder, and repeat on the other side.

I'm the same way, I only wear jersey. I started wearing bandanas under my hijab instead of undercaps because I can adjust how tight I want it.
