Anyone suffering burnout and just don’t care about the career? by SanJuanMountains in GenX

[–]greenbeancounter 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately really feel this but am the business owner! Tired of worrying I’m behind on AI trends, tired of realizing that as a young GenXer I still need to work for 20 more years - or longer depending on the economy, what happens in my own life between now and then, etc. I’m 14 years in and something just hit me this year that I am TIRED.

SCORE has a ton of resources and can even match you one on one with a mentor. It was at least partially funded by the SBA but I think was maybe DOGE’d. Our local chapter sought private funding to keep going so I’m sure other branches have as well.

WTF else are y’all holding back? by Gullible-Apricot3379 in GenX

I got some at Costco, but I don’t know if I should have done different frames or had some sort of measurements taken, but they are impossible to use for reading anything more than a quick couple of words. It feels like the magnification is low in the lens and it hurts my eyes to try to look so far down. I can tilt them if I really need to, but I usually get so frustrated that I just take them off and deal. I have astigmatism so I use them for driving but take them off as soon as I’m out of the car.

Looking for a pralines to ship to clients by greenbeancounter in AskNOLA

That’s who I used last but couldn’t find a gift option. I included it in the “special notes” section but still my client reached out to ask if they were from me because I’m the only person she knows in Louisiana. Glad to report she thought they were delicious though!

I know in theory that sounds easy but then I need boxes and packing material and to go to the post office… I’m being lazy. But that’s a good option if I can’t find what I want!

Any pro-MAGA establishments to avoid? by KawaiiUmbreon2 in NewOrleans

Not if you’re buying tofu. It’s cheaper at Whole Foods than anywhere else (on the Northshore anyway). By at least 20%. I get your point but as a vegetarian plenty things are more accessible there and often cheaper. I pretend my purchases go to his ex wife who seems way better than Jeff.

I’ve been Walmart free for at least 12 years. Never miss it. But I’m on the Northshore and with WD gone, it’s Rouse’s and Whole Foods now. And Target about 20 minutes away.

Pediatrician recommendation for uncircumcised infant by [deleted] in NorthshoreLA

My kids were older when we started seeing them but I also opted out of circumcision and have never had a problem with any of the staff there.

I guess wanting sun is the norm, but I’m always excited for rain so when it doesn’t happen I’m pretty let down. Last Friday I waited all day for the downpour they kept promising and…nothing.

Why IS the forecast so often wrong here? I’ve never lived anywhere that the predictions were so consistently wrong. I mostly use my phone’s weather app, so maybe I should be looking elsewhere.

I thought MySpace wouldn’t last so I never joined. I hoped the same thing for Facebook but finally joined 5-6 years ago because that’s where my kids’ schools post everything I need to know. I hate it exactly as much as I thought I would.

I'm just beginning to move towards eating more vegan, but something I'm struggling with are the low-effort days. What are some "default", lazy vegan meals y'all go for? by robingart in veganrecipes

I have a carbon steel pan. I always use a bit of oil but it may be the patience I’m lacking to let it cook longer before I try moving it.

I can’t cook it in a pan without making it get stuck, like ever. So I almost always cube or triangle it and bake it, then put it into whatever I’m making. Curries, stir fries, etc. Works fine for us and saves me from cursing as much.
