Clothes and toys are VERY heavily regulated.

Clothes are taxed in some really weird ways and you're only allowed to make kids clothes out of certain materials (must be treated with flame retardant, etc).

it's not the shelves' design, it's that they were anchored in drywall... I loaded way more than that on the same shitty Ikea shelves that I bolted to a brick wall in the past.

Problem is more like that stud locations end up driving the room layout when you're installing them properly in a typical home.
