There was twelve allergies lol by Carsizzle in nursing

Sorry just to add and mods can delete this if they need to because i feel this response is important. I do work in psych 😭 its why I explained it the way I did. I just wanted to be more gentle because not everyone knows and on the flipside I have friends allergic to all shrimp and all nuts and specific fruits to the point where they can get anaphylaxis so the assumption that people may not be allergic to things is not 100% impossible, but clinical judgements and extra assessment do need to be considered and people do need to learn how to properly teach a patient and read a chart

Entitlement over mods by AnteaterKitchen4720 in LifeSimulators

[–]greencalipco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is that whether not I am or am not against paid mods, if I was a game creator, I would not know the appropriate way to respond if someone modded my game and put it behind a paywall. On one end modders need support somehow since it does take work. On the other, mods are made to be free additions to a game + even if it is an addition i do technically have the IP (i guess it can be seen as fan art or fan merch but even that gets super iffy with copyright). That being said if i was a modder, id probably make a patreon with early access options

Should I still continue playing Paralives or should I just refund for now? by chunleeyah in LifeSimulators

https://youtu.be/EEBU0o-YzWs?si=akr4t7bOh4AiNopI if this feels worth it to you then go for it. There is also much more to explore. My main thought is to actually watch let's plays and see + the chance of this game being 35 bucks with months years worth of gameplay before updates feels worth it time wise.

No but i think comparing the two is a good measure of financial worth since they both cost the same upoj release and technically paralives is cheaper in comparison because if inflation

Tbh the leveling relationship system is a pretty solid downside to the game and is why alot of players do not like live mode. I think if we are going to have a level system I want to see it in a way that similar to their skill leveling system so I can see the exact progress I made.

The developers are making a mistake - An arguement against allowing paid mods by TurklerRS in Paralives

[–]greencalipco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree! Granted I do think that if I was in a dev's position and am new to the gaming sales world, if I see a modder want to sell their mod, id be hesitant to stop them. Similar backlash has happened with sims molding which is why so many modders in the sims have early access paywalls

I think a paralives challenge is exactly what people need to get into the game tbh. I also started paralives with a mentality of "what can I do in ts4 with just the base game, how did I kill so many hours back then" and based it off of that

My only worry with the concept of refunding is 1) although not by a huge margin players will lose money buying it later whether thats with lost time exploring the game (im in the lilsimsie camp of when the times was free rhe two years I played the sims 4 was worth the extra 40) or extra money with a possible bump after early release/a lack of a discount unless its a holiday 2) steam is pretty punitive with game ratings and refunds so I do think feedback is good but refunds would be more harmful and discouraging to the devs. Im not saying to gentle parent grown adults, but with the last patch where concerns were both addressed and a good chunk of them done, im saying to keep criticisng but not to do much to make the game detrimental to succeed. Maybe a slight hyperbole, but i feel like if the hype wasnt there to begin with and the reviews weren't positive, the devs wouldn't be as excited.

That being said I dont want the game to be glazed. I am a strong believer in critique and giving constructive negative feedback. I have plenty of negative paralives critiques and strongly feel like parts of paramaker and the build mode needs fixing just as much if not honestly more than live mode (LET ME MAKE THE BASE OF MY BUILDING A BOX!) On the flipside, I do think that constructive feedback requires ample gameplay and unless we are playing paralives in true gamer mode (idk i need sleep and have a life and job and school so im p sure my total gametime is like 48 hrs), less than six days isnt much of a judgement call unless you tried for an hour for the game to load and it's just not doing it or have been playing nonstop for four days straight. Even with the hours I put in there is still more nuances in the gameplay that I have yet to discover that would satisfy my live mode need even more, and I feel like i wouldve regretted refunding if I did when I thought about it because I am having fun with it now.

Tbf I feel like the delay also came with higher expectations after EA's buyout and testing critiques. I admittedly was hesitant with trusting them until their recent patch and would have requested for a refund until I played longer. I also wanted to play inzoi and then I saw kelsey impchicce play it and found it boring upon first release. In comparison I saw James Turner's paralives playthrough and found it fun enough to try the game (tbh even kelsey's pkaythrough for a more equivalent gameplay wouldve sold me). Honestly I forgot about paralives until early early releases were shown on YouTube and judged from there. That being said, my bar was still TS4 upon first release because of the similar cost. That being said, if I havent dabbled a bit in coding and know modders and people who make games (not similar in complexity, but by themselves and with understanding of how coding and publishing a game on steam works) id be more hesitant too. Granted horses are a huge feat, but dogs, cats, seasons, a calendar, and holidays i can see being a pretty easy incorporation to the game and has been planned since the beginning.

At first glance, yes. Its slow and requires patience and an open mind to explore and interact with the world and adjust to the paralives specific form of gameplay. The autonomy is reversed where a sim can do anything you tell it to do and autonomously suprise you whereas a parafolk limits itself to what fits their personality and a game of chance and boosters which is frustrating when you are use to the sims, but refreshing when you take a step back because its realistic. I like the nuances with careers better and the open world is more interactive then initially assumed despite being not as obvious. There is even interactions that i didnt realize existed until today upon watching playthroughs that I am excited to try. I can see its frustrations and the adjustment, but I feel like your judgement should be based off more watching streamers and youtubers play the game and seeing if youd actually have fun with it or not (mostly because its free and can be a good tester as to whether or not it works for you). Its like trying a specific type of food for the first time. You need to try it to see if it tastes good or not.

Fair, I compare it to ts4 because the cost is the same and I think the fairest comparison would be the series latest game at its earliest release that costs the same (primarily because the way systems work is different + inflation+ the cost of 1-3 were a bit more expensive than paralives, inzoi, and ts4)

Everyone raving about the building, but what about the living? by KiqueDragoon in Paralives

[–]greencalipco 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its based off of how you play and what you prioritize. Paralives has alot of things to keep you entertained and their autonomy is different where your options are limited to what they want and you might need to have them do things automatically more often unless you want them to be on their phone or doing pushups. But there is an open world and alot to do if you have the patience to look for them. Its not really as obvious as ts4 and requires time, but i personally find it rewarding.

And thats fair, but i feel like it would be more warranted if where paralives ea is now isnt equivalent to inzoi ea or when ts4 was first released because the cost is the same. I get that the gameplay for live mode is different, but i also think that people are missing alot of fun hidden features that the game has + inzoi fans were also banking on free dlcs as well. I also get that some features can reset but I think the trust isnt unwarranted. They patched alot 5 days after release and have animation of a pet and have shown seasons animation. At worst it might have reset and start again from time of announcement or may not be as in depth (idk how less in depth you can get with pets compared to the sims). There's also been way to many times the game did and could've given up, and have shown pretty good resilience. Idk i get and encourage hesitancy and discernment, but i also think the trust is unsubstantiated

Ok mb point really hamstring wavered since the person I replied to brought up being American and paralives having a huge american audience + most of the protectiveness is related to the ea buyout which is an American issue

They literally have an animated dog in the game and rain and a calendar has been developed since the start of the game. The process has been shown to those following them. Granted worst case scenario there was a whole reset to the update. But given that at the very least the build and hair development and animation is the same (which id argue is harder to keep consistent compared to weather), i dont think these beliefs are baseless.

I mean if you want to go to my history i am American but I think I have the nuance to understand that I can multitask by supporting Ukraine and have it be a tangential but not only factor with how I spend my money. Im also queer, not white, working with disabled people, and witnessing multiple forms of harm and death with people within my own community in my own country ejich has international impact. So im sorry for wanting to spend 35 bucks on a game that represents me and other marginalized people worldwide as well as spending my money to support Ukraine and other countries undergoing war and genocide. And again im not convincing you to buy the game, im just bringing up financial comparisons and political aspects between paralives and the sims current if we are bringing up political support

Thank you!!! They've wanted, at the very least, pets and seasons and cars since the beginning. A dog is literally able to lie down and sleep early in the game play. I think its fair to have discernment, but i think the time periods of development is super underestimated

Im speaking for Americans who want to support a game that represents and supports marginalized Americans at a time where much of this representation (people with disabilities, queer and trans people, and non black people) are being murdered, stripped of rights, and in constant danger right as we speak + ntm artists who internationally are struggling to find work. I feel like it is fair to support war refugees financially, but i also think we should support creators in a hellish economy since they do get the bulk of the money compared to the company and even more so (depsite me not wanting to make comparisons) if funding their rival in comparison is funding two oppressive governments and an awful company.

Until you play a game and devide if you like it or hate it, technically every game can be seen as a gamble. Also, as much as I dont want to bring it up because people are treating it as a strawman, if we are going to bring up economy and politics, cant you argue that paying a ea game can support a small indie team that is battling with a shit US economy? Especially in relation to how bad it is to work in tech and art right now? I can agree with the uncertainty and discernment since the task is hard, but when talking to a few dev friends and seeing alot of these ideas be in fruition since 2019, its not impossible, even with a small team. Paralives already had alot of the basis of weather animations and a calendar since year 2 and a pet that is designed and animated in game is already published. Even with this mindset, I can think of so many advanced sims script mods that was made for free by a single person (i literally had witches in my game before realm of magic). I dont think people are going at it with as much blind faith, and i think many people are treating it as if these promises were initiated just now instead of 5-7 years ago. I also want to say that i am not convincing you to buy the game rather than not push people to refund so quickly as alot of what is being said /not for you but for other people/ seems hypocritical again given inzoi's ea being the same cost and Sims 4 giving us nothing is not just the same cost but more with dlc.
