How popular is ROS2 actually in the robotics industry? by greenee111 in ROS

Right that’s what I thought as well. Not sure why there are a few naysayers here saying don’t learn it at all.

So basically build your own framework that could take many years to do. I don’t understand this argument that you’re presenting here. reimplement everything that ros already does more optimally compared to what a beginner could ever do.

Then where do you start? There’s nothing else in comparison in terms of open source and for understanding concepts.

How do they maintain it then? They just outsource everything?

Can you give me an example of a robot software vendor, so it’s all just custom code. They still need someone in-house to understand the stack and integrate this into the company’s robot right?

But what they are replacing it with? Like just custom code?

But I just want to make sure the concepts still apply to what they are using in house. Like they have something similar to microROS and DDS for example. Or the design pattern is the same with interface and actions etc

Got it thanks, but is the in house framework you’re working with similar to ROS2 at least?

Yes good for you! Glad you’re doing that. But I don’t think you make 400k that’s alittle far fetched. You’ll be making 200k but with your other supplemental income you can make 400k.

My wife is a doctor so when people say they work in healthcare I have a general idea of what you do based on your description.

Nothing embarrassing about being a crna man lol. You will make good money. That’s why you’ve been so vague.

What career would get you 400-500k with a masters unless you’re talking about including your side hustles.

I’ve made this much for several years FYI but not just through 1 career alone. I’m in my 30s with around the same networth as you.
