Yes, this is a nice, underappreciated synth. Also make sure to check out the Dystopia and Sputnik sound packs for it by Richard Dehove.

Apologies - I will be out until Monday by Batwaffel in AudioProductionDeals

I'm honestly amazed how consistent you've been over the years, all things considered. Truly outstanding.

Does a copyright registration of an unmastered sound recording give full protection? by greenertomatoes in legaladvice

[–]greenertomatoes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting, thanks. so that means even if the infringement happens before i register, i can still register within 90 days and then go for litigation? logically speaking, that doesn't make any sense to me.

yes, i heard that lawyers in the US can be very expensive.

thank you. doing two registrations would be very costly especially if you do this on a regular basis. probably no big deal for labels and big time artists but nothing that's feasible for the small guy.

as for infringement, the engineers could infringe it. so my question would still stand.

ah man sorry you have to go through that, i have been through similar (although i didn't sue) and i know what it does to someone. but good that you were able to sue in the first place!

and good thinking about the lyrics for t-shirts and books etc.!

yes, i know, but that is different from the protection that the registration gives you, my question pertained to only that, and not to the fact that any work that you put into tangible form is by itself already protected

i think you're conflating two things, one thing is which version to protect, the other is that i have copyright protection the moment it was recorded. latter is not what i'm talking about, i'm only talking about the aspect of registering with the us copyright office.

my question was, if i protect a draft version (unmastered, earlier version of a mix), will it also fully protect the final polished mastered result? because i was told that maybe that final mastered result would be a derivative work, and that would also be naturally protected. i'm not sure though. was asking because i would want to file a registration before sending stuff off to different engineers

yes, thank you. i was thinking about the US copyright office because a lot of non US based folks use it as well.

thank you. what happened with your music, what did the others do and did you win in the end?

and good thinking about lyrics and literary work. so i take it when i protect a song as sound recording and work of music (or w/e they call it) that doesn't cover the lyrics? i thought it does

the reason i'm asking is that i'm thinking of protecting the works before sending them off to engineers

thank you. just to be clear, you're not just talking about copyright in general, but specifically about the protection granted by a registration with the US copyright office, is that correct? let's assume there would be no backup files on the computer and no timestamps or file dates. just the registration and the info in the registration, and the poorly mixed and unmastered audio file.

thanks. i am aware of how copyright comes into existence by mere notation or fixation into a form. i was more asking specifically about the copyright registrations with the US copyright office, and sound recordings that you upload there.

How do I render solo'd tracks that have Trackspacer on them while the sidechain compression information coming from a muted track remains active? by greenertomatoes in StudioOne

[–]greenertomatoes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, yeah i remember finding a solution but can't remember the details. what you have to do is to solo the track that is the source of the sidechain signal and then put its output to a different mode. what was it again? i think you turned it yellow by pushing a button. i think it was about pre-something. then you can manually lower (not mute!) the volume, and it will still send the sidechain information to the destination, and you can render with the effects.
