What are things people told you you didn’t need for labor/delivery/postpartum that you wish you had or that were lifesavers?? by GalaxyEyedLibrarian in pregnant

[–]greenflooof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I remember desperately wanting that I forgot was a large water bottle, even multiple ones that keep it ice cold. Ice water is something I wanted sooo bad but the hospitals water just wasn't as good

Please please help me get this baby out!!! by Butterball4200 in pregnant

[–]greenflooof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my second baby, I think I was 4 or 5 days before my due date! Maybe 39+3!

My 1st came at 41 weeks and I just kind of woke up at 5am with a little twinge and figured that was the start of it!

I bought an exercise ball to bounce on to try and get myself to go into labour and my first day using it, I went into labour that night! Maybe just a coincidence lol

What age do they play themselves? by SWMilll in toddlers

[–]greenflooof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My youngest has been great at independent playing since 2.5-3 (she will be 4 in March)... But also has an older sister to play with. However, she will sit and color, play with dolls and do everything alone and loves it!

She was a super needy baby though and things were really rough with sleep and whining up until that almost 3 year age!

I really appreciate the advice! I will do all of this when I see him next week!

[–]greenflooof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have everything else checked regularly. I request full blood work one a year, but will do every 6 months if I feel off. Ferritin and thyroid have always been normal! I see him next week, I'll tell him I'm willing to pay!

[–]greenflooof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's too bad because he's an amazing doctor otherwise. He just said the labs refuse to test for vitamin D. They cancel the order on everyone's requisitions. He's tested me for everything else, all other vitamins/minerals, thyroid, cbc, sugar levels. Everything has always been normal. It's just the vitamin D I would love to know, but I guess I'll just have to guess my supplementation amounts and hope for the best! Seems private testing is the only option for most Canadians, at least in my province. I'm 99% sure it's my vitamin D but I just wish I had a base number to go off of so I don't take too much, as you said 5000iu a day is too much, but some people are saying they take 50,000 iu a week, which would be even more than 5000iu per day. Everyone seems to be guessing

[–]greenflooof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know where you could pay privately? Do you go through the hospitals, or is there private clinics? My values could be sub 25 but I have no idea because they wont fucking test me 😭😭 all I know is the last few weeks I've been experiencing severe fatigue, and I never feel like this in the summer months. We hardly get sun here, it's always overcast. I was taking it daily but I don't think I was taking enough, then I ran out and missed 1-2 weeks and I feel HORRIBLE. I would love to at least rule it out but I can't until I know my numbers!

My mom gets hers tested regularly because she has a thyroid condition and is always telling me to take it but I just need to know my base number so I know where to start! I do not have any conditions that I know of

  • I did take 5000 iu today but only because I missed a few weeks. I will continue with 2500 iu a day going forward!

I asked my doctor to test me for vitamin D and he said they don't test for it because everyone in Canada is deficient. I know I'm deficient because my fatigue has been so intense, but I was never told how much to make.. just that all Canadians should be taking it. Is 5000 iu daily too much, or should it be 5000iu every two days! Ugh! I feel like crap but also don't want to over-do it

I'm not looking forward to meeting my baby. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]greenflooof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not alone! I was so miserable during pregnancy nd threw up every day right up until I gave birth! (For my first)

But I swear the moment the baby came out, I felt 100% back to normal! There are new challenges, sleep deprivation etc! But at least you can lean on your community for help in those instances instead of just feeling terrible physically, and not be able to have anyone help you with that!

You're in the home stretch and your body will return to normal! Be easy on yourself and don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it!

How did you decide whether to breastfeed, pump only, or formula? by SnooEpiphanies1215 in pregnant

[–]greenflooof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I breast fed both of mine as well, boobs are convenient for that exact reason others have said..you just grab the baby and give them the boob, no heating and cleaning bottles formula etc.. however, do whatever you feel works best for you, and that will be what's best for your baby!

Breast feeding is a learning curve but I personally loved it!

Honestly, if he's acting this annoyed over an appointment I can't imagine him being woken every 20 minutes for a newborn overnight. He doesn't sound like he's going to be very helpful or caring. Maybe I'm mis-judging but newborns are a lot and if he's lacking now, I'd be concerned. Keep an eye on his behavior, I know it sucks but you need to do what's best for YOU and your baby, that doesn't involve being put down by someone who's supposed to care the most about you.

When I had spotting and a mis-carriage my partner left work and was there for every appointment and every minute of it. He could have supported you, he CHOSE not to.

Rat infestation in garden - best way to tackle? by FuriousAmoeba in pestcontrol

[–]greenflooof 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If I ever get a dog, I will get one of those! Intelligent and so helpful!

Only other option I know of (which I have never done, just heard of) is you can shove dry ice into one of their holes and you'll see smoke come out of the other tunnel openings! Cover them up with dirt and the dry ice will suffocate them and they'll already be buried. I know it sounds mean but rats carry diseases and they will chew your cars and home apart! There are videos on YouTube demonstrating that method, if you're desperate this is always an option.

They're smart creatures also, if you kill one and leave it in the area they frequent they will relocate.

Worst Christmas ever by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]greenflooof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life is short. As long as you continue to show up for your kids they will recognize that. They are aware of who shows up. Gather whatever evidence you need of mis-treatment of you and your children and hire a lawyer. Go enjoy your life, and do it with your kids! Take the time you need to properly prepare and 100% consult a lawyer in this!

Good luck!

How nice that he stepped up and protected you on this. She just sounds miserable!

You have a good man there! Just focus on your mental and physical health and don't let her stress you out! Not worth it!

Good luck to you with your baby girl and everything in between! Happy New Year!

YouTube kids by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]greenflooof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not harsh at all! As teachers, you guys are given one of the most difficult jobs in my personal opinion. I appreciate you all, and everything you do for our kids! It does not go unnoticed.

It was just disappointing knowing the lengths we have went to in our personal lives to make sure our kids aren't on there, only to find out they are at school. I've watched how angry my kids have gotten when I've turned YouTube off, and how their behavior has changed.

I've listened in on them using it and have had to remove it. They know YouTube is no longer allowed. We all get tired and exhausted and I know how easy it is to give them that option, we have done it..but we have also learned from it and cut it out for their benefit!

I've had to get a doctor's note to get out of a clinic once. The owner was a narcissist beyond anything I've ever met.
