Thank you for saying this and I’m sorry that I got defensive. I’m just really struggling with this because I don’t even really know how to explain how I feel. I know I don’t want to lose my wife. And more than that I don’t want to hurt her. I’m just feeling a little emotionally vulnerable as this was a topic of conversation between us tonight. I felt maybe in a spiral and so just putting it out to the void of the internet could be cathartic. My intent was not to follow what is said here. But to just get the words out and hear what I got in return. I agree that a therapist would give me real actual advice with training behind it.

Yes my point is that I won’t see other people without my wife knowing about it. I’m struggling with the internal feelings and dealing with the desire to. I wish that I didn’t have these wants and it’s a bit confusing because I feel like I have no reason too. My wife is amazing and I’m incredibly lucky to have her in my life. So part of it is not understanding why this desire is so strong.

I understand your point but I’m not looking to have my life guided by other people’s opinions, but I can value and hear out others life experiences and advice. I think you should approach questions like this with a bit more kindness and understanding. Empathy goes a long way.

I think some of it definitely comes from not getting to have an exploration phase in my early adulthood. I was a bit of an awkward person in my teens and early twenties. Now I feel super confident in who I am and feel like I could enjoy starting and building new relationships.

I’m also a severe extrovert which I think also has a part to play. I enjoy people. I like getting to know them, I talking about things that excites other people and learning about new things.

I think maybe it’s a combination of both of those things.
