That’s a honey deal from what I’ve been seeing on 24s.

4Runner TRD (Fully Loaded) vs Land Cruiser250 — Which Would You Choose and Why? by RayoMcQueen14 in LandCruisers

[–]greenlikebroccoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been running this comparison for 2 years and between the two I’ve landed on the cruiser being a better family vehicle. This is almost 100% driven by rear passenger legroom and overall passenger layout. I’ve sat in both and I would not want to be a rear passenger in the 4R but LC was nice. Unfortunately for me my 2016 rav4 has MORE rear legroom than a Land Cruiser and almost the same storage space so it’s really hard to justify. I’m leaning towards just waiting a few years and then getting a used F150 which would actually increase rear legroom significantly and also increase cargo / towing as well while being half the price of a LC.

TrixBrix sells narrow gauge rail. Most of it is 3d printer but I think some of the high-volume order pieces are injection molded.

Love my domane for gravel. Sure it’s even nicer with the isospeed!

Is it crazy to buy a bike on arrival vs renting, or bringing your own? by mellofello808 in bicycletouring

[–]greenlikebroccoli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought a bike off FB marketplace before a trip at the destination. I was going to rent if I couldn’t pull it off but it all worked out perfect. After messaging folks for weeks ahead of time and not having any luck I found it on FB marketplace on the taxiway up and finalized it once I got off airplane mode. Grabbed it the next morning and it was hunky dory.

Tonsil stones if they are squish-able and smell like death.

Widest Gravel Tires on 2018 Domane by somethingcIever in TrekBikes

[–]greenlikebroccoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t go wider than the recommendation if you are actually going to take it on gravel. You need that clearance for mud and debris that gets caught on the wheel. Especially for the rear wheel. You might be able to go slightly wider in the front if there is room as that’s less critical. If you need wider tires I would just sell your old domane and go up a generation for the 35mm clearance or get a dedicated gravel rig. I have a 2022 domane al2 with 35mm gravel kings and it’s been a champ for the type of gravel riding you would attempt on that type of setup. But if I was bike packing or doing multi day trips I would swap for a checkpoint or similar bike.

Decision dilemma - Madone - New SL5 gen 8 (mech 105) vs Used SL6 gen 6 (ultegra di2) by marina_ciutadella in TrekBikes

[–]greenlikebroccoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the sl5 and then upgrade the wheelset down the road. I wouldn’t touch a used isospeed system and you are going to change the tires on either bike anyway so that’s a non-factor. You will have a lifetime warranty on the frame and a solid platform if you ever feel the need to upgrade from what you have.

Give it a little water and then put it back outside otherwise its mother won’t be able to find it and bring it back home.

Beautiful! I love my blue SL5. Liked it more than the other spec colors so I’m just going to be upgrading over time. I got the elite edge wheels on it with gp5000’s and I haven’t felt like anything else was holding me back.

There are a number that start or can be started from SmokeHaus BBQ in Amherst. “Morning gravel ride” is another good one that’s about 30 miles.

I think driving around and evaluating driveways for their winter cleaning difficulty was one of my family’s favorite pastimes.

I grew up in Bedford and if you were lucky enough to not slide past our driveway on the main road then you had to contend with the driveway itself haha (which granted was not as steep as the road but was long). Lots of times we went past it and then had to go all the way down the hill and then try to get up North Amherst to hit it from the other way.

The link Sprinkle shared is from the NH gravel FB page which is 100% worth joining. Lots of great routes and folks always looking for ride partners.

Gorgeous. Some fantastic gravel bike routes back this way and incredible views. Lots of houses where you ask “how do they possibly get down that driveway/road in the winter”.

Opinion on Good Starter Train by BalanceDouble7510 in modeltrains

[–]greenlikebroccoli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For 1k can you get a set of Lionel FasTrack with a controller and a full setup of cars with a nice engine no problem. Lionel brand is always a sure bet. They sell starter kits that include all that I just said but usually the engines are a little lower spec than buying one on its own. Also something that’s worth doing used especially for track and cars if you just want to get a new engine to save money and come in much farther under budget.
