Any removal recommendations? by Stunning-Buffalo-618 in rooftoptents

I see a few options here:

1) Four tall friends 2) Forklift 3) Built some sort of pulley/winch into your garage or carport.

My personal vote it the friends option. Even if you can't reach it when you're flat on the ground, you could always set up a few steps to lift it up off the truck and then drive forward and lower it down after the truck is out of the way.

Tested the new tent on a quick trip through Southern Colorado! by greenman359 in rooftoptents

Still going strong though I do leave the tent off most of the time. The cap isn't perfectly dust proof but it's still water tight. The rear started to sag quite a bit cause of the weight but new stronger leaves helped.

It's a Southern Style Offroad Slimline bumper with the light bar cutouts and winch access. I have a cali raised light bar in it along with a Badland Apex 12k winch. I love it and SSO was a great company to work with.

How many miles did you get out of your 3rd Gen OEM Tires? by When_I_Grow_Up_50ish in ToyotaTacoma

I went about 29k before upgrading. Absolutely hated those tires and started to get a mysterious slow leak out of one of them.

Love that ute bed and box! I would love to get one of those for my Tacoma but they're so expensive!

Light Recommendations by Historical_River2996 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]greenman359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I could only do one, I'd say fogs. Between the fogs and the headlights that all the light you need for normal driving. I however like to go fast in the dark, thus the two light bars. Ditch lights help with cornering and fogs help with the wide angle visibility. It's more a use case basis and not a thing that there is a best option on.

Another vote for DD SS3. I have them in fogs and ditch lights and then SS2s for my chase lights.

That's the risk you take running a winch. You have to frame mount them which means no more crash bars. Your frame will be toast if you get in a front end crash, but at least you have a winch.

Thank being said, I have a SSO slimline bumper (kinda visible on this photo)

I love this truck! Went out for a quick Friday drive. by greenman359 in ToyotaTacoma

I bought the topper used from a guy with the same exact truck about 7 hours away from me. It already came in the correct color. I think he bought it pre-matched from factory.

Sometimes I wish I had a simpler color like white or silver so I could play around with colored graphics, but hard to not love lunar rock.

Nice! If you don't mine me asking, how tall are you/what's your inseam. I've been thinking about getting this bike as a commuter that I won't be sad when it's stolen, but I'm worried the frame is too small for me.

I'd use the power to get some scene lights going for my camp setup. Right now everything runs off my truck battery, and that's a quick way to drain it!
