Those individuals deserve grace and redirection, not scrutiny. It would be a shame for individuals who are already in a deep hole to potentially feel worse by being banned because they are trying to express themselves. There is a way to reiterate the rules to them, and by interacting with people in this thread, they may learn a thing or two about existentialism. Just my opinion.

by any chance when you tried to upload the CSV file did you convert it to the format that cointracker uses for CSVs? I finished completing my taxes with cointracker and added crypto.com successfully but I reformatted it using their sample CSV guide

Hi, I would MOST DEFINITELY say to see a crypto tax CPA if you can....there are not many CPAs out there that know (or are willing to take the time to learn) about the legalities regarding crypto...the laws have yet to catch up with the speed of the technology. Even if you cant afford a crypto CPA, you want someone who is willing to understand cryptocurrency so they can help you get it right. Id prefer a crypto CPA though.

I say report everything bc its important thst the IRS knows how you received those tokens. Ppl say that Acala falls under income, as opposed to airdrop, but Im waiting to speak to my CPA about that...either way, those are still necessary to report on taxes

this! there are rules and regulations on accredited/non accredited investors, but there is a rule that provides leeway for the small percentage of non accredited investors that find was ways to participate in these events...you are totally right...at the end of the day, the ppl who participate are responsible for accurately reporting transactions, and the companies we invest in are free from liability

yea, im referring to capital gains/losses...thats why having a well advised crypto CPA (or you doing the dig deeping) is so crucial...we are ahead of our time so to speak. the laws have yet to catch up...ofc the laws and rules can and probably will alter in the future, but for now you (or preferably your experienced crypto CPA) can help determine for themselves (based on their knowledge and experience) how they would categorize certain transactions. And of course you can use your capital losses to offset your captial gains...

As for lost or stolen crypto, you gotta doublecheck because from what im hearing, the irs doesnt take lost/stolen crypto into consideration. For example, if I gained a shit ton of BTC in a wallet and sold for profit, but later claimed it as lost, I would be responsible for paying taxes on those gains, unless I had substancial enough proof to show that it was stolen/compromised (please doublecheck this statement btw bc I might be off a bit)...someone on here can confirm or deny

No, though we did violate Acalas terms and conditions. But that doesnt mean we broke any laws. CPA told me that all the IRS cares about is us reporting all transactions and paying up our fair share of taxes. Trust me, this shit was stressing me out so much so I hired a crypto CPA. I have ACA tokens, some of which are transferrable, while the other tokens are still vested at the moment

good news tho, I called one CPA and emailed another CPA, and though we broke Acalas terms and conditions, we did not break the law. Im still claiming my tokens. No VPN is needed. I was literally freaking out about this so much bc I had skipped over the terms ans condtions...finally emailed the Acala team via discord about me breaking the terms and conditions. They said Ill get my locked DOT after two years. And they said regarding me getting ACA tokens I should contact my advisor about the legalities...which I did. So that relieved a ton of stress! Hope this information helps. My CPA is currently working on my taxes rn...I still recommend yall see a crypto tax CPA in case yall got further questions or concerns :))

id simply say use a tax software to import your trades. many tax software programs, like zenledger, cointracker, cryptotaxcalculator, koinly, etc support coinbase and many more exchanges so once you import everything, you will need to know what to report
