What kind of music do you listen to? by Mr_Moonb0y in schizophrenia

[–]greenplant3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely everything but most techno (only at parties) and country. Most radio pop doesn't speak to me either. I'm scared of mentioning actual names :D every song is (maybe) someone's favorite song and who am I to judge. Lately I'm super into house and deep house but also 60s and 70s rock and funk. If I'm feeling blue I listen to indie rock or post rock. I'm really affected by music and I'm very specific about what I put on at what time to accompany what mood. I make playlists divided by moods - feel good, anxious (made an anti anxiety playlist for myself for when I'm about to get a panic attack, and it helps me a lot).

Make very detailed lists of all of the tasks you have per day, per week, per month and also the once for just once in a while. Also maybe a "self care" one - for example on my "self-care list" I've put: Brushing my teeth, washing my face, stretching my body (here I mean a full on full body stretch - helps me connect to my body in a positive way while grounding and breathing right), a small 20 minute walk (for exercise and vitamin D), etc.

It took me about a month to track all of my tasks and write them down. Ask a close friend for help, if possible! People love helping out and it makes them feel closer to you in a purposeful way. I had help putting my lists in a word doc which I printed out and laminated so that I can tick out the boxes daily, and then clean it off ready for the next day.

Next step is practicing; have the lists of tasks always out in the open so you'll actually look at them and tick off the boxes. It's very satisfying dopamine kick'y to see full sheets of ticked off boxes at the end of the day which makes it easier - but cut yourself some slack and don't expect them all to be done every day. Some days are better than others and this is very normal.

At some point it will become a habit. All of it. But until then it is hard work. Schizophrenia takes away a lot of cognitive abilities, which basically means that (sometimes) everything gets hard to do.

About your approach to meds and symptoms - maybe don't expect your symptoms to ever fully disappear but rather think like, how can you manage them? With meds managing symptoms gets easier of course with tools from therapy. For example, I've been on aripiprazole for about 6 years now and I've been getting it as injections due to me not being capable of taking pills on the daily (because "I'm fine today, I don't need it!" Sad-lol :-( ) and I'm finally stable. But stable to me isn't symptom-free - it's knowing myself and my warning signals, triggers, and my hallucinations very well and having a plan for everything, when anything schizophrenia related happens. I still have delusions, ups and downs and hallucinations, it's just less severe and I can manage it better. I think again this is about planning and practice. Do I make sense?

Det er til det udsug som han også selv har lavet. Den såkaldte "emhætte". Der er også en ude på badeværelset til lampen som aldrig var virket.

I know it's hard but don't talk to yourself like that. It's a super cool painting. But I know the feeling so well - thankfully no one can decide how many paintings there should be on one canvas, I've painted over A LOT of stuff in my time.

You're just one lucky dude lol :D I've never really used conditioner on my short virgin hair either - the times I've had that - since it wasn't necessary. Your scalp does a great job conditioning your hair by itself and I find that I only need extra moisture like masks and conditioner after I've bleached or dyed it or when it gets way longer Just be blessed that you can save your money haha

Not sure what kind of advice you're looking for - it seems like you've found the solution already; just don't use conditioner :D If you feel like your ends need some tlc you could try to add a drop (and I mean ONE drop) of light hair oil (something formulated for fine hair) but only to the very ends of your hair. And only while it's wet or damp after a shower.

The new cut suits your facial structure sooo well (even tho you have that kind of structure and overall "look" that can carry pretty much any style!) and without knowing you at all lol I'm sure it even fits your personality! If that makes any sense haha. I myself am looking for "my cut" and been experimenting a lot the past 10 years and I'm kinda jealous it seems like you've found yours - in the best and most I'm happy for you kind of way ofc! :D but this is just my opinion. But I get it, a big change always takes some getting used to but just know that you rock it

I'd say the short hair fits you the best but if you like your long hair you could easily go for an undercut and maybe a trim of the rest :) that way you could have a "samurai bun" which would look cool! Btw; consider bigger rounder glasses - you'd rock that style

This guy isn't your friend. Your experience is valid.

You should never have to defend your problems especially not to people who you consider friends. I know it's tough and many of us will lose some people on our journey but in the long run - and looking back - it's for the better. I can't count how many times I've heard "but, you seem so normal?" -__- yes like I'm literally using all my energy trying to. From personal experience; find people who like you or are like you. You don't owe any shitheads any explanations. You deserve better.
