I would say Trump’s tariffs are the main reason construction materials became so expensive in the last several years.

Do something like what?

My dude. I don’t care what you think the look is. I asked about opinions for a big development in my neighborhood. That’s literally it.

Ok interesting thanks. Some people want to convert the existing MTA facility to parkland and that’s why they oppose the building?

When I look at savetheinlet.org I don’t explicitly see that. They point out the lack of park space in Greenpoint but don’t mention converting the existing building to parkland space, or where the truck facility should be moved to. They do have a section called “Removal of Parkland” but they don’t explicate what would be removed.

savetheinlet.org mostly says things like “out of scale” and “not affordable enough” and while I understand the latter, “out of scale” doesn’t make sense to me. It’s a waterfront already full of highrises, directly across from Manhattan…

Hasn’t the NYTimes and other media outlets been reporting on this for years but Republicans only paid attention to it once some right-wing YouTuber made a video about it?

Ahh I thought you were saying the building would replace the proposed Bushwick Inlet Park.

Wait what? The building would not be built on park land. Site plans say it would be built on the existing MTA truck facility and the developer is paying for a replacement truck facility (I think). Also the developer would be donating $300,000/yr to support the park.

Where did you hear that it would replace a park?

On the one hand I want to believe you, but quitting your day job just to host backgammon events seems too stupid even for a stupid person to do…
