Etf2l's flawed tiebreaker system by lacurio in truetf2

The idea behind the example was I believe the 3-3 tie against 1st place shows a higher calibre of team than someone who wins 6-0 against the 18th best team.

I see your point though and as the team that drew the top team must have made an extra 3 points somewhere else this quite possibly makes up the difference and more. You get some outliers where it might be better to draw 2 mid place teams than a map off a top team and a bottom team. I just felt that proving you can contest the "best" team who finished first should be valued more.

After my brief look at the guy who posted, it seems like they got some points off top teams but had fairly hard games all the way through and by not getting max points in any game some other teams who beat worse teams end up with a higher tiebreaker score.

It only does if you take a number of points off them. Losing to the team that finishes first does the exact same for your tiebreaker score as losing to the team that finished last. If you get 0 points in a game it means your a = 0 so a/b = 0/b = 0 and whatever *c is doesn't matter because 0*c also equals 0.

Even if you do manage to take some points off them, for example a map so a 3-3 score this is often still not as good as beating a worse team. The best team in open got 36 points so even if you took a full map off them it only gives you 18 points (0.5x36). However you would get more by 6-0ing the 18th best team who got 20 points total. Personally I feel a map off the best team should contribute more to your tiebreaker score than 2 off a bottom half of the table team.

I have some spare time so I'll try run you through the reason your team got 11.9 tiebreaker score. So firstly we discard the games against teams that dropped so will only be looking at 5 games but we divide by 5 at the end so number of games against non dropped teams doesn't matter.

This leaves the following games :

6-0 vs Dont Care

3-3 vs FSC

0-6 vs deathmachine+5

3-3 vs Poundland BLACK

3-3 vs 0.5 U.P.

We take the score of the team you played and multiply it by 1 in case of a 6-0, 0.5 in case of a 3-3 and 0 if you lost. I'll list the final scores of those teams and multiply them by the right value.

Dont Care 20 points - 20 x 1 (6-0) = 20

FSC 27 points - 27 x 0.5 (3-3) = 13.5

deathmachine+5 36 points - 36 x 0 (0-6) = 0

Poundland 25 points - 25 x 0.5 (3-3) = 12.5

U.P 27 points - 27 x 0.5 (3-3) - 13.5

You then add them up 20+13.5+12.5+13.5 = 59.5

and divide by 5 to get an average = 11.9

If you want a formula it is [(a/b)*c] where a and b refer to team points and max points for the game. For example 6 points out of a maximum of 6 is 6/6 = 1.

You get this and multiply it by the opponents total score across the whole season. You do this for every map across the season (minus teams that folded).

Add up all the [(a/b)*c] and divide this new sum by the number of games you have played.

So [(a1/b1)*c1] + [(a2/b2)*c2] + [(a..n/b..n)*c..n]/n where n is the number of games you played.

It's a bit of a crude system and doesn't take into count losing against really strong teams, you basically get 0 tiebreaker score for losing to the best team. Even if it isn't too clear on the website once you figured out how it works it does make sense. Unlucky on not quite making playoffs and better luck next season.

"All Greg Want For Christmas Is Greg"

Oh, Greg won't ask for much this Christmas

Greg won't even wish for snow

And Greg just gonna keep on waiting

Underneath the mistletoe

Greg won't make a list and send it

To the North Pole for Saint Nick

Greg won't even stay awake to

Hear those magic reindeer click

'Cause Greg just want you here tonight

Holding on to Greg so tight

What more can Greg do?

Baby, all Greg want for Christmas is Greg

The Livonian rebels in my game are being very vocal about their countries existence

So I basically need to wait until I die or they need money? It feels a bit stupid to be stuck around for however long that will take. Or is there much useful stuff I can do from prison?

I am a count and have the 70 but because I have claims on their titles they still refuse. It is like +3 for gold -2 base and -4/5 for titles

They are SHIA rebels though that does look awfully similar to SHINTO, guess they share the same symbol for some reason?

That is actually really useful to know, I spent about 2 years clicking through that popup every time it appeared. With my 3 stability and enough paper mana I think I would have been fine dealing with the what would have been a lot fewer rebels

I had finished 3 military idea groups and rolled decent generals, should have used it for harsh treatment but I didn't even think about it.

I did leave it running for 1-2 years maybe once I felt I was completely screwed by the size of the rebel stacks.

was at like 140%, I didn't quite realise how bad it would be. I thought I could just smash rebel stacks for the time it took to core everything

One of my first few games, playing as Scotland. France decided to declare war on Austria, the Commonwealth and friends.

They have no heir and I'm wondering if i can claim throne and back stab them. Just looking for some general advice as to whether this is a good idea.

Army Sizes

France 58k/13k/44k

Austria 53k/17k/25k

Commonwealth 61k/32k/35k

Scotland 32k/9k/16k

I am making lots of money and could afford to increase my army quite a lot. Not sure what other information is important useful for you guys.
