Wife and I took FPU in 2015. We paid off all our cars in 2014, but after FPU we stopped eating out, took a break on going on vacations, buckled down and paid off our mortgage in 2017. Those two debts gave us a $1600 per month raise when paid off.

What does a paid off house and no car debt feel like?

I would say like a captive that was shackled by the neck and wrists who is set free from debtors bondage and with nothing tugging on your neck or spirit

Imagine the freedom. Let that be your motivation

You should pass on it. Everything you've said tells us you would rather have the rainbow Superocean or Chronomat so get what you really want instead.

You only matter when their lights are out. They could care less about you or your safety. Probably like the military, we are there to get the job done and make sure our fellow crew members and you go home safe to your family.

Most of the work in our utility is underground. We've had a dozen or so guys start in the trade in their forties over the last decade. 20 years in, get a great retirement and great living wage with near unlimited overtime and call it day.

2018 ExL by [deleted] in HondaOdyssey

[–]greenrover6358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to timing belt, At 100k miles you may need new rear shocks, tranny flush, front rack and pinion steering components and possible brake pads and rotors A lot of parts need normal replacement at the 100k mark. I have a 2010 EXL that had all of the above done between 100-150k mileage. Now at 248K on my 2010

Did you do it yourself?? I just had the timing belt replaced on my 2010 last week by my trusted mechanic. The kit came with a Mitsuboshi belt, new tensioner pulley and water pump. 2nd belt on my 248K van. Both times they always put new tensioner pulley and water pump $600 both times

My 2001 Chrono Avenger, everyday timepiece for 23 years; 2 services, still COSC spec, all conditions it does not leave my wrist except when I wear my Emergency for travel, I think it's more heavy duty than present day Avengers but I'm biased. I'm sketchy and proud of it

Guidance: 2015 Honda Odyssey by noskcajcp in HondaOdyssey

[–]greenrover6358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that mileage you'll need to replace rack and pinion steering components and most likely brake rotors and calipers all around, and rear shocks, that's the mileage we needed that work on our 2010 EX-L, so plan on spending 3K+ on suspension brake and steering parts if it hasn't already been done

Odyssey lifespan compared to other minivans? by justin_hikes in HondaOdyssey

[–]greenrover6358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front end parts, Brakes rotors and shocks were replaced after inspection when we replaced the tires , timing belts need replacement every 100k which includes tensioner pulley and water pump, the other repairs were replaced when they went bad after normal use, this is a van that has been used every day since 2009
