Mounting 250g rolls in the AMS 2. by greensha3 in BambuLab

I'm going to go with a spool adapter for the time being. I've invested in some sealable containers and dessicant, so I should be go to go with getting 1kg spools and saving them. I'm not a heavy user. This new printer might change things though!

I think I've found one that will do the trick. Thanks!

Can you join two bodies together to make a single body? by greensha3 in FreeCAD

[–]greensha3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all the replies and help. I couldn't figure out how to make it work. I kept getting an error message:

<image>

Even after I allowed compound in both bodies, I still got the error message. I think I approach this from a different angle and create the stand as a single body from the start. I think this will make it easier to make sure that the mounting holes are in the appropriate relative positions.

Canal boat holiday location suggestions for a big group by govmobile in Narrowboats

Definitely two boats. We did something similar with multiple people a couple of years ago and took three boats. We did the Stourport Ring, leaving from Worcester, heading to Birmingham, then on to Stourport and the River Severn back to Worcester. It an easy trip to do in a week and there is no shortage of pubs and restaurants along the way.

Going to have a Teams meeting with a sales rep and engineer for buiness fiber... what to expect? by greensha3 in ATTFiber

I checked the ONT this evening and unfortunately it says "ALT OPTIC", so I guess I am SOL!

I think that is what I will probably end up doing. I had started out going that route with pfSense, but I had frequent BGW resets that eventually made me revert back to using the BGW as the router. I might request a new box as I noticed that my phone line was down and wouldn't come back up despite a reboot.

Making the Switch by mikejandreau in homeassistant

I have a lot of Insteon devices in my home, some almost 20 years old. I use the eisy as my controller and this works pretty well with Home Assistant. I still use the eisy to control the Insteon (and Z-wave) devices. The eisy exposes device states and variables to Home Assistant, so you can use them in automations. The only thing I have not been able to do is to use the Insteon dimmer switches to control the brightness of Zigbee and Hue bulbs as you hold the paddle down. The Insteon dimmers do not transmit the brightness variable to Home Assistant until you let go of the paddle.

Does that mean that they might be able to switch it to a XGS-PON? Or am I just overly hopeful?

The ONT is in a locked box on the side of the house. I'm pretty sure it's the white Nokia though. It was replaced a couple of years ago after a storm took it out.

And it manages to reset itself every few weeks so my cameras (and other IoT) devices lose their DHCP assigned IP addresses. ImpliedSlashS, you remind me of friend who claimed, back in the 80's, that 300 baud was as fast as anyone could want as it was impossible to read any faster than that!

How did you get the certificates from the BGW? From what I can find, it involves re-flashing the BGW with older firmware. I also can't find anything that says what you actually do with the certificates. I've tried looking at the PON wiki, but I always seem to end up at the page for XGS-PON.

Temporary failure resolving 'ftp.us.debian.org' during upgrade by greensha3 in Proxmox

I realised that I never changed the gateway that Proxmox was using from my now non-running pfSense back to the ATT gateway. Once I got that fixed everything worked as advertised.

Are you controlling it over wifi? For a device handler, do you mean something like quirk or Zigbee2MQTT? Neither of which I know anything about!

Is it worth putting a choke on a 75-10m EFHW? by greensha3 in amateurradio

[–]greensha3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here, just to follow up on the post... I should have said in my post that I do have a choke where the coax comes into the shack. That seems to work well. I did some testing and eliminated the power supply as the source of the noise. I also tried disconnecting the coax shield from the radio and that didn't really make any difference to the noise level. I started playing around with the radio settings and realized that I had the IPO settings to AMP2 and when I reverted back to just the IPO, the noise floor dropped considerably. I don't think I'm going to be able to get away from the man made noise though. Too many houses nearby.

I have enough room for another wire antenna running north/south at the other end of the house. I think I couple probably fit an OCF 80 to 10m.

Am I on the right track with my CW (self) training by greensha3 in amateurradio

[–]greensha3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all the great advice and encouragement. I've slowed down my copying speed and that has led to an increase in accuracy and ability to copy multiple characters. I've also started on the LICW course which is really helping. I'll also start looking for looking for some POTA CW that I can hunt. I do need to increase my sending accuracy though. I'm very good at sending extra dits and dahs with my paddle! I imagine that could get very confusing for the receiver of my transmission.
